Magistream's Halloween event for year 2024 will start on October 26th and last up to and including November 3rd.
Creatures:
New Halloween creatures appear from October 26th up to and including November 3rd.
Detailed release information can be found in the Creature Release News thread once the creatures are released on October 26th.
Gifting:
Gifting will start on October 26th. Sending gifts will be available up to and including October 30th. Opening received gifts will be possible starting from October 31st. For those new to the site or gifting events, here's a quick break-down as to what gifting means:
- You can gift unfrozen eggs and hatchlings to other users.
- In order to gift a creature, click on "Give" on the creature's page or next to the creature in your keep view, fill in the recipient's username, fill in a note if you want, and send it. If you want to send the gift anonymously, check the box that says to send it anonymously.
- You can gift an unlimited amount of creatures, but only three creatures to any one person.
- You can receive a maximum of 25 presents. In order to see how many presents you have, go to your Keep page and scroll to the bottom. If you see no mention of presents then you don't have any yet.
- To help people with finding other people to gift, the amount of gifts people already have can be seen on the person's profile as well as on topic view. It is possible to turn off seeing the gift counter from your profile settings, "Show Gift Count"-checkbox.
- You will get a badge in your profile for gifting at least ten gifts.
- A drink will be available in Remy's Inn starting from October 26th and up to and including November 3rd.
- The egg limit is raised with three for the duration of the event starting from October 26th and up to and including November 3rd. This means that you can get up to 9 eggs, and up to 13 if at least the last two you pick up are Donation Pet eggs.

Introducing our user groups, part 2
On the previous Newsletter we covered the different Magistream team related usergroups, and this time it's time to introduce the rest.
User groups:
Registered users
Registered users are the base usergroup of the site. Registered users can send private messages to a maximum of five simultaneous recipients, have 4 additional private message folders and can hold up to 50 private messages in each folder. Registered users are able to post on the forums.

Donors
Donors are registered users who have donated at least 10 USD to the site. They have all the same privileges as Registered users, and gain an upgrade in private messages so that they can hold a maximum of 100 private messages in all folders, and can send a private message to a maximum of 100 simultaneous recipients.

Newly registered users
This user group is in use mostly as a spam bot counter measure. Newly registered users is a user group whose members are not necessarily "newly" registered however. This user group initially contains all people who register onto the site. Newly registered users cannot send or receive private messages, and cannot post on the boards apart from one very specific forum titled "IF YOU ARE NEW, YOU MUST POST HERE!" which is only visible for the Newly registered users. Once a Newly registered user makes a post in that specific forum, they are automatically switched to the "Registered users" user group.
If you are a player who has been registered already for quite some time, yet you have the grey username of a Newly Registered User, and you'd like to be able to send private messages or post on the forums, be sure to just post anything in the "IF YOU ARE NEW, YOU MUST POST HERE!"-forum.

Bots
Bots can only read forum threads. They cannot send or receive private messages, cannot post on the forums, and have very limited actions on the site overall. The Bots that are visible on the online user list are such that the forum software takes measures to limit the traffic they have on the site, thus making the site faster.
