There had been a war between the gryphons and the phoenixes of some faraway land, unknown to the gryphons. They had been fighting for years and were now ready to end it. The phoenix princess had secretly fallen in love with the gryphon prince of the time. Every night, they would sneak off to meet each other. Their parents never knew. When they had a chick, it was a fiery gryphon. The surprised parents were proud though. Eventually, the two ran off, taking their chick with them. They had more chicks, all fiery gryphons. When two descendants of these gryphons came together, they named their family Firebeak in honor of their great phoenix ancestor and their great gryphon ancestor.
