Transformers are special Direwolves. They share a distant link with a planet far away. A planet called Cybertron. It seems they might be the reincarnation of the species that lived there. They do not remember, and howl to stars in search of an answer to their past.

Only vagues shadows of their past lives remain. The names they have, are strange to even them, but the urge is strong. Like a soul inside of them is crying out for recognition. So they have such strange names. Names of Transformers.
