Many who hear the name Xiuhcoatl usually assumes it refers to the Aztec fire diety. While this family of chimeras do indeed have characteristics of fiery animals, that's not why they're named so. This family is named as a "weapon of destruction" for it's part in a battle long, long ago. Generations later the descendants are still trying to prove that not all of them deserve the reputation their malicious ancestors earned for them...
