Originally said to be the messengers of Anubis himself, the Anubi clan has served only those few destined for true greatness. The eggs are as rare as the candidates themselves; it is said that the pairs only lay once a prime magi is found. Even then, there is no way of knowing that the magi will accept the egg, or the offspring accept the magi. There have been cases of candidates being too young, too old, or just not wise enough for the Anubi's taste. If the magi is accepted though, great things will often happen to them throughout their entire life. With the death of the magi comes the death of his or her Anubi companion; the Anubi is said to lead the magi's spirit to Anubis for judgment, and follow them even in death, protecting and guiding their magi in all matters.
