The word "Koi" comes from the Japanese word "Nishigikoi" which means 'Brocaded Carp.'
A brocade is a fabric woven with an elaborate design.
When koi swim in water, their scales seem to shimmer with an elaborate design, thus earning them their name.
--Please no inbreeding of the Nishigikoi Family.--
Please breed only the "old" koi with Nishigikoi koi. No capricorns or ibex.
