The RisingFire family is named for my 2009 NaNoWriMo novel, Fire Rising, a novel I hope to polish and get published once I stop procrastinating. Ashes is the MC, an average Joe who encounters a dragon in downtown Toronto and discovers he's a phoenix in a human body. Nico is the cranky, cynical mage who keeps him and the dragon (Az) from being imprisoned by an underground society of magic-users called the Magia, an organization which Nico used to work for until the suspicious death of his lover, Joaquin. At the end of the book, Ashes, Nico, and Az are off to Az's home world to stop a war.
