The Xochiquetzal name means 'flower feather', in honor of this lineage's brilliant plumage and curiously sweet smell. In spring and summer months, Xochiquetzal coatls often draw butterflies and birds to their presence. They are also renowned for their graceful and enthralling aerial courtship dances. These magnificent displays are highly elaborate and can go on for hours, and in addition to their beauty, it is said that simply watching such a dance will promote fertility and grant the viewer great luck in romantic endeavors.
