make the small eggs quake in fear.
But the cat and dog stand staring;
at each other do they peer.
The trees are bathed in dark and cold.
The cat writes with her tail.
The dog's eyes are an empty abyss
and the silence does not fail.
The shadows and mist start to wrap
around the cat and dog.
But their deep and thoughtful eyes
are bright enough to see through fog.
