Ah at first I was confused because thought you meant priests as in generally involved with religion, rather than a religious leader.
It seems to be that a lot are involved, but they aren't necessarily.
Like your example - Lissa isn't a nun, but she is a healer.
However Libra appears to be a religious man, and he's the upgraded axewielding priest.
In other games you have the likes of Natasha or Saul, both being linked with the in-universe churches.
So I'd say that most are affiliated with religion, however some are simply healers.
And as for the religious ones, I think it really depends on the person as to how deeply involved they are.
Does that help any or have I made things worse?

Appearance: With wide, olive eyes and a cherubic face, Linden makes even the most war-hardened criminal want to protect him. His tousled, dusty brown hair is always styled with just the right amount of mess to maximize charm. (It took Linden quite a bit of time to get the look exactly right, and he's rather proud of the achievement.)

History:
Personality: Linden is cute. Not "cute" as in "romantically attractive", but cute as in bunnies are cute.

At least, when you first meet him.

As many of his close acquaintances find out, Linden is the singular most terrifying entity on the continent of Ylisse. Even when you're bleeding from 5 different axe wounds. Especially when you're bleeding from 5 different axe wounds.

He's a big fan of "If you die, I'll kill you," and other absurd threats of violence. One would think that with only a healing staff as a weapon, Linden would not be quite so intimidating—but there's just a certain something about him that makes it very clear not to disobey.

In public situations, he immediately switches back to his adorable, innocent, cheery persona. This makes him a rather good candidate for situations in which the Steel Strikers need to appease local nobles—or just to secure a stock of new weapons for a lower price. It also tends to unnerve those around him who know of his true personality.

After a particularly traumatic event, Linden may retreat into his smiling facade, as a way to shelter himself.
