Gwen is done! More than likely I should actually be drawing Lori's magi characters, but inspiration does its own thing at all times, god bless

Well, guys, just like last summer I'll be traveling, which means traditional art hell. I'll intermittently upload RS art, so if anyone has doodle requests just say the word!

Re: Rising Storm OOC
Hi, I've already pm'd Marth on the possibility of my character, but after reading everyone else's characters I've changed up my idea for her a bit. I know nothing about Fire Emblem so I was wondering if any of you could give me any advice about what I'll need to know before this role play starts, like which wiki pages I should read... After I get more of an understanding about the classes and the weapons I'll get her form written up. Also, I pm'd Marth about the possibility of her being fifteen, I would like her to be sixteen instead if possible but I'm flexible with the age. Thanks everyone!! This roleplay sounds really cool!

omg I would sell my soul for some Linden art if I ever get his appearance finishedMarth wrote:Well, guys, just like last summer I'll be traveling, which means traditional art hell. I'll intermittently upload RS art, so if anyone has doodle requests just say the word!
unless you could possibly design him for me? I suck at clothes and what not so I have no idea
@Eloranondra: Hello! I haven't been here long, but from what I've seen, there isn't much correlation between this roleolay and Fire Emblem:Awakening besides the classes and weapons.
From what I gather, this takes place before the events of Awakening? (confirmation please?). I would look up the countries of Ylisse and their traits. Also it would be important to know some of the lore and different races, like manaketes which are were-dragons.
There are two religions, I believe, which worship Naga and Grima respectively. Some background on that would be cool, too.
also make sure you're looking at fire emblem awakening stuff, and not information from other games. Fire emblem games take place across different continents and times thousands of years apart, so looking up information from, say, the Tellius series, would just leave you with a lot of cat people and bird people.
Welcome to the role play!

Re: Rising Storm OOC
Thanks so much Applemint for the advise! It's much appreciated. I'm going to need help figuring out a weapon for my girl, but I'm almost done with her form so you can see what I have for her background and such.
Re: Rising Storm OOC
Wow that form was hard to make out. Please tell me if it's acceptable!! I hope it is

Re: Rising Storm OOC
I have wayyyyy too many exams and classes...I just want to finish my form. Alas, too much to do. Thanks for helping out with advice there Applemint. Covered the basics pretty well, I'll just add my two cents too.
The correlation is mainly the politics, geography, classes, weapons...pretty much everything except the storyline and we're not using the Shepherds or other canon characters except for the likes of Emmeryn, since she's the Exalt and all.
There only are three countries in Ylisse, so geography isn't that hard.
To the north is Regna Ferox. Like you'd expect from a northern country, it's colder than the other lands, and snow is not an uncommon sight. It is ruled by two Khans, the East Khan and the West Khan. They do not split the land between them, but instead hold competitions. Each Khan chooses a champion (who must be from another land), and the two champions fight. Whichever champion wins, their Khan becomes the ruling Khan, while the loser becomes the regent. As can be guessed, the land's politics are sorted in battle. Not war, merely shows of strength. The Feroxi people are known to be good fighters.
To the west of the continent is the Theocracy of Plegia, usually just called Plegia. A lot of it is barren desert, and while ruled by a monarch, it's usually the Grimleal pulling the strings. Plegia is rather antagonistic towards Ylisse, often trying to instigate wars. They're still very bitter about the last war - or at least, those in power are. The people here tend to be affiliated with dark magic more so than the people of other countries. That's not to say that dark mages are only from Plegia, but it is the land where they're most often from.
To the east is the country the entire continent was named after - the Halidom of Ylisse, or just Ylisse for short. It's a rather temperate land with plenty of trees, and the capital is Ylisstol. This land is ruled by those of Exalted Blood, in other words a royal family descended from the First Exalt (who established Ylisse) and by that logic, the Hero King Marth. This is the country we'll be starting in. The current ruler is Exalt Emmeryn, an extreme pacifist who managed to rebuild her kingdom and her people's trust after a violent war with Plegia.
There is another continent, Valm, but it's probably easier for you to learn about Ylisse first. But yes, I do recommend learning the lore, it'll help a lot.
As for the races, most people are humans. There are also a variety of mythical creatures such as pegasi, griffons and wyverns. However, there are also two beast races in Ylisse - the Taguel and the Manakete.
The taguel appear human, although they have odd features, mainly large amounts of extremely localised fur and they look to have long ears peeping out from their hair. If these people use a beaststone, they transform into a large and surprisingly fierce rabbit. Beast form taguels are roughly the size of a large wolf, and unsurprisingly they are rather quick. They're known for being a proud race of wild warriors, but because they are a beast race, they were often enslaved to work in hard environments. Between this and multiple genocides, they've become practically extinct. In fact in Awakening, Panne is the last of her race. Typically, they dislike humans after their history with them, but because the First Exalt tried to protect them and actually outlawed enslaving them (not that everyone listened...), they tend to be loyal to the Exalted Family. Taguels seems to age at a similar rate as humans do.
The other race are knowns as manaketes. It would not be correct to call them were-dragons, as that implies they are humans who, due to a curse or a disease, transform into dragon-like creatures. Manaketes are actually dragons, most being full blooded but half-bloods aren't impossible if they decide they rather like a human. Many years ago, dragons essentially ruled the lands. They protected humans, although some tended to be quite indifferent to them. But then something went horribly wrong with the magic aspect of the environment, and the dragons fell sick. Not in the usual way, but the started descending into madness and becoming utterly feral wild dragons. Once feral, they attacked each other, and the humans. Thankfully, they found a workaround before many lost their minds. To prevent the madness, the dragons had to store most of their power into stones called dragonstones. Without their power, they were forced to change into their weaker human forms, and needed to use dragonstones to change back to their true form, although they could not remain indefinitely as a dragon or they'd lose their mind. Now stuck in human bodies most of the time, the real humans decided to take advantage of the dragons' newfound vulnerability. Many were enslaved or killed, just 'cause the humans could. Of course, that didn't exactly go down well. There was a bit of history between the two races long ago, and there's still sometimes tensions. Manaketes are still enslaved for entertainment purposes, mainly because they're incredibly rare and thus seen as being "exotic" and a symbol of wealth. If they don't have their dragonstone, there's not a lot they can do. Like the taguel, manakete numbers are extremely low in Ylisse, but there are others out there...somewhere. Most of the dragons have simply up and left, sick of the mistreatment the humans inflicted on them. They can do that because unlike the taguel who are forced to deal with it, the manaketes can just fly away to distant lands. So between mass emigration, being killed for their parts (their scales are considered almost priceless), being mistreated in slavery (after all, a human manakete is no tougher than your average human) and natural causes, there's been a lot to bring down the population to almost none. It's not exactly helped by the fact that they can't really increase their population easily - due to their ridiculously long lifespan, biology decided to lend a helping hand to prevent the world getting overpopulated by manaketes. As such, they have many fertility problems and the birth rate is ridiculously low. A child is a very rare thing to their people. Like taguels, manaketes look a little different in their human forms than real humans. While taguels have rabbit-like features of fur (and a small tail), manaketes have sharp teeth and pointed ears, much like how elves in fantasy do. Each individual manakete has their own view on humans, mainly since they're very independent creatures, unlike the taguel who used to live in warrens. They do tend to be a little naive at times, mainly because they mature at a similar rate to how they age - even if they know all the ins and outs of adult life, they'll probably still want to act what age they appear to be, maybe even a little younger. And interesting thing about their race is that they can basically hibernate. It tends to be for healing purposes if badly injured, but manaketes can sleep for hundreds of years undisturbed, and wake up with no ill effects. In fact, manaketes seem pretty sleepy in general.
Applemint is correct about the two main religions. Most people pray to the Divine Dragon, Naga. She's not literally a goddess when it comes down to it, just an extremely powerful and old manakete who has ascended from this mortal plane and tries to protect the world. The Grimleal is a cult of worshippers of the Fell Dragon, Grima. Again, he's not literally a god, but he wants to destroy everything. Grima's not your regular dragon, and instead is probably the fused form of all the Earth Dragons who went feral and were sealed away by Naga to protect humanity. So both are technically dragons, though much more powerful than your standard manaketes. However, the people of the land view the two as gods because of their sheer amount of power.
Again, Applemint is correct about keeping an eye on what you read. There are many, many continents and each have different races and histories. For example, Elibe had the Scouring, whereas Magvel had a Demon King on the rampage. As a result, it's a good idea to check for the word "Awakening" in the title if it's a general page, like for weapons or classes and such.
