I've been shittily procrastinating and theatre starts officially next week so that's pretty much my life right now.

Yay theatre. We're doing Ordinary People this year. I'm trying to audition for the psychologist, but it's feeling pretty unlikely.

I know. I'm procrastinating so hard at posting right now. Sorry guys. But I have auditions tomorrow and Wednesday so by Friday I should have a post up.

One of my good friends played the lead in Ordinary People last year! Good show. Although their psychologist was a female so is that written as a unisex part?

Finished with my auditions. I'll let you guys know if I get the part I want (I'll know by tomorrow morning). It's not really looking good right now but... I dunno. I guess we'll just see how it goes.

I, Fang, will be playing the part of Aunt Eller in the musical Oklahoma!

We had read thru today and I'm so in love with this show and the cast.

Took me a while to get around to reply to this, so apologies. And yes, the part is basically unisex, which is exactly why I'm nervous. I just had auditions today and there's this one British girl who is extremely talented and also going for the role. I don't know man, those Brits come up with some good actors.

Nice! That's a pretty big role! Is your director any good?

Ahem. I mean... That sounded weird.

But yeah, it's my first lead in a musical (I've had leads in straight plays but never a musical) so I'm really excited! And oh my god YES! I absolutely love her. She is FANTASTIC. Our assistant director is meh but she doesn't make most of the decisions anyway so whatevs.

I just feel bad that my best friend didn't get the role she wanted (she wanted to play Laurey) because she's a senior and she deserved it but they gave it to this sophomore girl (who is a sweetheart and I love her but still) who wasn't as good. So I feel kinda neutral about my day.

And I have to sing a song with this painfully annoying kid but I get to point a gun at his head so I guess that makes up for it.

Just got finished with callbacks, and that British girl is most likely getting the part. She got called in for the part five times while I was only called three times. It is truly the struggle.

Our director's really good, but also extremely creepy. While he isn't built with three hundred pounds of rapist beef like the family doctor, he's got more of the bearded pedo look. Not sure what it is. Maybe his intense eye contact.

I feel your pain with the sophomore girl. There's this one guy who, funny enough, is also a sophomore. Because he looks young enough, people are assuming he's going to get the lead, people have been sending a lot of hate his way. I feel for the poor guy.

Eh don't worry about callbacks. I only got called back twice for my role and the girl I was up against got call backed four times. But when the cast list went up, I was happy and she was not.

But I know how you feel. The anxiety and paranoia that auditions/callbacks can create is not a fun time. I bite my lip when I get nervous or angry so needless to say my lips have been very chapped all week.

Haha our music director has a little bit of mustache pedo in him but he's great too so I can't complain. And our choreographer is amazing. We just have an all star faculty. Becauseour producer and our technical director are magical as well. It almost seems unfair.

Yeah, our auditions/callbacks were a mess with drama. There's only three female leads and we have probably thirty girls who auditioned? It was rough. Luckily for the boys in our theatre company, there were exactly as many speaking/singing roles as there were boys who auditioned so they can't really complain. Plus they're all pretty chill. And the boys who got the leads (two seniors, a junior and a sophomore) really, really deserved them. The girls on the other hand... Well they're freaking out.

But anyway, keep us posted on how it goes. We're rooting for you.
