General
The lunar avraels are one of the many creatures that mark the beginning of autumn. Always in motion, the avraels collect all sorts of nuts and fruit, hoarding food for the approaching winter. Like the red and brown avraels, the lunar types possess delicate-looking wings that seem too fragile for flight. Surprisingly, the avraels use their wings skillfully, gliding from one tree to another. They love to glide, often accompanying magis on trips as their magic over air allows them to glide over extended periods of time. The lunar avraels make for valuable scouts as they move in complete silence. However, untrained avraels will not do a great job, as they easily get distracted from their task, stopping at the nearest tree to gather more nuts.

Hatchling
Barely the size of a child's fist, the lunar avrael hatchlings sleep most of the first few weeks after they hatched. They awake only to eat, and magis leave berries next to their nests to prevent the hatchlings from crying from hunger. Always searching for warmth, the avrael hatchlings often hide inside old coats. They prefer those lined with fur, and finding avrael hatchlings piled up inside someone's winter coat is not unusual. Fortunately, the hatchlings don't chew on the fabrics, and the clothes survive mostly intact. They become more active as they age, taking more interest in gathering food on their own. There is nothing cuter than a lunar avrael hatchling struggling to carry two strawberries at a time to its nest.
Adult
A curious thing about adult lunar avraels is that they rarely take care on their own of their newly hatched babies. Once the eggs hatch at the beginning of autumn, the adults prefer to leave the hatchlings with magis. That way, the adults can focus only on gathering the food needed for the winter. It is not considered a sign of abandonment. The adults often visit their hatchlings, checking in on their wellbeing. As they remain outside the Keep, the lunar avraels spend the entire night in the nearby woods, gathering nuts. On some occasions, they will visit flower gardens to feed on nectar. As night comes and the forest dies down from the day's hustle, the lunar avraels retreat to their nests. The nests are made inside hollow trees and are usually occupied by about six adults. They keep each other warm and protect each other in case of harm. Sharp claws can make for dangerous weapons when the avraels feel threatened.
