General
Large and solitary, nyanja pulsedragons are an unusual sight in most areas. When they do venture out from their deep underwater caves, they often head for beaches and other coastal areas. In return for an offering from fishermen, nyanja pulsedragons may start to sing. As they sing, they draw in magic, visible in the glow within the membranes of their wings. When this light is strongest, they release it in the pulse that gives them their name. Most of the time this pulse is helpful, easing sickness in people and bringing a bountiful harvest of fish. Occasionally, however, if the pulsedragon has been treated badly, this pulse can easily destroy homes and cause the sea to rage.
Egg
This damp egg is always humming to itself.
Hatchling
Hatchling pulsedragons spend a lot of time sitting still, observing the world around them. They're unable to pulse until they become full adults, but they have long memories and easily remember any kindness shown to them. They can, however, sing and enjoy doing so, especially in small groups where they can practice their harmonies. As they grow, they become more solitary. Travellers along the deeper sea routes where nyanja pulsedragons live often tell tales of unusual waves, claiming them to be a hatchling nyanja pulsedragon's first attempt at learning to pulse.
Adult
An adult pulsedragon can be an imposing sight when it suddenly appears. Despite their size, they tend to move quietly - and they can also be surprisingly quick when they need to be. Nyanja pulsedragons tend to appear more often during times of bad fishing luck, lurking in the water a safe distance from boats. Some magi theorize that the lack of fish is what calls them from their underwater caves, so that their singing and the resulting pulse can bring the fish back. As adults, nyanja pulsedragons are rarely seen with their hatchlings, preferring to leave them in the safety of their deep-sea dens. If a travelling pulsedragon happens to meet another adult pulsedragon, they will both politely greet each other with a song, and then each continue in separate directions.
