General
Feather drakes resemble gryphons in some ways, but their behavior is very different. Feather drakes are valued by people wherever they are found, and they bring a sense of relaxation about them that can ease the anxiety of young and old alike. They seek only to help those most in need, be it human or not, and seem to have a sixth sense for those who are most upset. With a brush of their wings, they calm even the most anxious people, and they will curl up and rest with the person until they calm down. They are the gentlest of creatures, with feathers softer than silk. It is said that a feather drake will gift a feather to everyone who it has aided in some way, and some magi theorize that the drake will then be able to sense if that person needs additional help, no matter how far away they are or how much time has passed.
Egg
This egg has colorful wings in shades of pink.
Hatchling
Feather Drake hatchlings emerge from their shells nearly helpless, and beg for food constantly with tiny peeping cries. Even weeks after hatching they are clumsy on their four legs, their long tails weighing them down. While they cannot get far on their own, in the wild their parents aid them every step of the way and provide them with berries and tubers to keep them fed and healthy. At the keep, a magi with a feather drake hatchling will have their hands full keeping their small, accident-prone hatchlings safe.
Adult
The clumsy feather drake hatchlings grow into elegant, graceful adults, and their passage into adulthood is marked by their first flight. As though repaying the favors given to them when they were hatchlings, adult feather drakes appear to dedicate their lives to helping others. In the wild this is their young, but their compassion extends to other living creatures as well. At the Keep is it not unusual to find feather drakes doting on young, weak, or injured creatures. They are often found sleeping peacefully next to happy human infants, and at times the feather drakes will even try to placate a crying baby by bringing them the same berries they would feed their own young.
