General
The temple trickster is a curious beast, neither good nor evil but dedicated to a type of random chaos. Tricksters can be incredibly kind but they can also be vicious and vengeful, and magi often can't know which way the trickster will go. They're drawn to the most powerful of magi but no one can hope to control them or force them into doing anything they don't want to do. In some places in the world, temple tricksters are considered an ill omen, especially when one hears their laughter. However, tricksters have been known to reward a good deed done unto them with a good deed of their own, and magi should be wise to respect tricksters wherever they are encountered.
Egg
This spotted egg is wrapped in beautiful blue jewelry.
Hatchling
After hatching, temple tricksters wear the jewelry from their egg around their neck. This jewelry is unique to each trickster and can be used to help identify them, especially as hatchlings often appear to be identical. Solid animals even from their first days, trickster hatchlings only become stronger as they grow into adults, some larger than even the largest of magi. They tend to be curious and will often knock things over or chew on items just to see what will happen. Magi raising a trickster hatchling should especially beware leaving magical components where a trickster can reach them, as the hatchling will happily destroy or eat them.
Adult
One simple way to befriend a temple trickster is to admire their jewelry, which they can be quite vain about. Magi can offer tricksters jewels to wear in order to ingratiate themselves or placate an annoyed trickster, but should beware: a trickster's vanity means that they will reject all but the finest jewelry. Adult tricksters are usually chatty and have been known to laugh at jokes, as well as amusing misfortunes. Having a trickster companion can boost a magi's power, but it can also come with a price: magi unused to such strong magic can be overwhelmed by it. In the wild, tricksters are often found at the scenes of disasters, both magical and natural, though no one is entirely sure which ones the tricksters are actually responsible for.
