It's fortunate that myrmeco hatchlings are a different colour from their verlinga cousins immediately, as they aren't as friendly and prefer to be left alone. Their coat is so thick and woolly that they need to be groomed frequently - and shorn when old enough - and this can be a day-long event with especially cantankerous myrmeco. When not being coaxed into submission, hatchling myrmeco spend their time hunting down small creatures and inspecting the garbage for especially tasty bits of old meat. The solid white fur of the hatchling myrmeco helps it to blend into the snow of its northern home, which allows its parents to leave it when they need to go out hunting for food.

Myrmeco are usually found in the northern climes, where their white fur can help them hide out in the snow and their golden markings can reflect the sun to help blind any predators. Confident in their various protections, myrmeco spend the day ambling around looking for food and inspecting new things within their territories, and the night snoring in burrows. Their heavy fur has a tendency towards mats and clumps, but fortunately it can be shorn off and used to weave popular - and thick - blankets that are often sold at festivals.
