A dreamspeaker grows at its own rate, usually appearing larger with each new visit, though you suspect it can change size at will. Initially, the serpent's infrequent visits were confusing and you didn't know how to respond. The serpent appears anytime it wishes, sometimes at inopportune moments when you are studying or working on an important project. Over time, you've come to find the snake a comforting presence. You aren't sure what it wants to hear, but you tell it about your day and what you're working on, and it listens patiently. Sometimes, especially when you find yourself overwhelmed and unable to see a way forward, the serpent will offer one of the orbs it carries in its forked tail for you to see. This is risky, as one orb shows dreams and the other nightmares, but the serpent always shows you what you need to see. When you return to the waking world after these encounters, the serpent is gone and you are once again alone, but your mind is at peace and you remember what you are working for.

Dreams can be many things, as the dreamspeaker knows. These are among the least understood creatures, only coming to those who need them, and spending most of their time in another realm. Many believe they live in the world of dreams, and that the two colorful orbs they carry with them are small parts of the dream world. One orb is a dream of yours, something you aspire to, an unattainable fantasy, or even just the chaotic visions you see in your sleep. The other orb is one of your nightmares; a fear, realistic or exaggerated, or an assemblage of frightening chaos conjured by a weary mind. The dreamspeaker always shows you the orb you need to see, taking you into the dream or nightmare to have you live it, in order to motivate, clarify, or correct your path. Most prefer the dream, and so do their best to keep the dreamspeaker pleased on its visits.
