Silkhound hatchlings love to flounce, practicing the dainty steps that will win them prizes in shows and win the admiration of their magi. Sometimes they will attempt to copy winged cats or other felines, trying to look graceful. They're not always successful, however, and many a silkhound hatchling has tripped or mussed their fur while trying to look fancy. They are also masters of looking highly offended if their magi laughs at them. All is quickly forgiven, however, and more than anything, silkhounds love to be petted by the people they care for.
Unlike their quicker desert-dwelling cousins, silkhounds are primarily used in special beauty shows, designed to flaunt their beautiful fur. While the fur itself is short along the body, the tufts on the ears and the tail are prized, and the fur itself is exquisitely fine. They are patient and kind creatures, happy to be primped and pampered and their fur brushed out. Their fur itself has value, and when trimmed, can be sold for high prices for use in weaving. Garments made from the fur of a silkhound are incredibly expensive and in high demand.
