Once alasre fyrins reach maturity, they become less energetic. They nap more often and spend more time around their magi companions, perched on a shoulder, just observing the world around them. Even so, curiosity remains the thing that drives them to explore everything despite their fear for seemingly anything. The older the alasre fyrins get, the more jittery they become. Even something as small as grass moving in the wind scares them. Those who have alasre fyrins as companions find this ridiculous as they can sleep through an entire thunderstorm without a care in the world. It is uncertain what actually scares these fyrins. Research done by those who study them claims that whenever they teleport, the fyrins briefly visit a completely different dimension. It is possible for fractions of the other dimension to bleed into reality, the fyrins being the only ones able to perceive them. This results in them being scared of things that are not visible to anyone else. The more they teleport to other places, the more anxious they become. However, this is merely a theory. It could be that they are simply scared of their own shadows. Whichever the cause, the alasre fyrins are more at ease when things around them are calm and quiet.
Accustomed to the mountains, the alasre fyrins can be found perched on high rocks or exploring deep caves. Their colorations vary according to the areas they can be found in. The black pearl fyrins that live lower in the mountains have darker fur. The seal point fyrins that live near the top of the mountains and are more exposed to the sun have a lighter-colored coat. Lime or mauve gemstones adorn their foreheads. These gems are the epicenter of their magic, and if one was ever to crack, the fyrin loses its powers. Master climbers and avid explorers, the alasre fyrins are known for their limitless curiosity. However, they are extremely fearful. Even the smallest things scare them. This is where their magic comes in handy. Whenever they get scared, the fyrins teleport away in a hurry, only a mass of dust and fur remaining behind them. For a long time magis believed that keeping an alasre fyrin around kind people would calm their fears, but they are as anxious at the Keep as they are in the mountains. Although they cannot teleport to great distances, they can take things with them. Objects often get misplaced if a fyrin gets scared while in the middle of munching on them. Random scholar documents or books can pop up in weird places if an alasre fyrin is with them.
