Yirimis make their nests inside bell-shaped flowers, where their hatchlings are kept safe under the plant's petals. Small enough for two or three hatchlings to comfortably fit inside a flower, they feed on nectar and play with the pollen. Until they are able to fly, yirimi hatchlings spend their time exclusively inside their flower homes. Fragile wings turn hardy as they age, but their looks remain just as delicate. The wings of wild fey yirimis gain the characteristic shape of a butterfly's wings, while the forest yirimis develop small, fine feathers, their wings resembling those of birds. Even if they learn to fly quite easily, the hatchlings are shy, barely daring to flutter from one flower to another. It takes time for them to gain the courage to fly away from their homes.

Yirimis are creatures no bigger than hummingbirds, delicate looking and graceful. Forest yirimis can be found only in the hidden hearts of forests, colorful flowers claimed as their homes. Less common than their forest cousins are the wild fey yirimis, said to live only near the waterfalls of Dorr. They can easily be mistaken as butterflies as they flutter from flower to flower, drinking nectar. They are playful creatures, always curious about humans. Unafraid to approach kind magis, the yirimis will pinch their cheeks or hide in their hair, curious to learn more about these foreign beings that visit their lands. It is believed the yirimis lure travelers to wander in forests until the end of their days, but they are benevolent creatures. Although they take great interest in humans and are happy to have them as guests in their lands for extended periods, these creatures merely direct lost travelers to their destination. Those who meet the yirimis speak of their capability of making wishes come true, but no one was ever able to prove this. However, they do have magical powers. Friends of nature, the yirimis create flowers as they see fit, always in need of more of the bell-shaped flowers they love to use as homes.
