Mycotic unicorn hatchlings are cute at a simple glance but disturbing at a closer look. They linger in the shadows, silent and still, staring at nearby creatures, waiting for something to happen. They are ever present when creatures get injured, eager to heal through a touch of their horn, and even happier to spread the mushroom that resides and controls their bodies. If adult mycotic unicorns don’t require a lot of food, the foals are always hungry. They eat grass for its delicious taste, but the thing that nourishes them the most is meat. The foals do not hunt. The smell of blood attracts them, and they join other beasts after their hunt has ended to steal a bite of meat. Predators instinctively know to leave these hatchlings be, in fear of sharing the mycotic unicorns’ fate.

Some forest areas are usually left unexplored for a reason, but now and again, someone bravely ventures into them only to return with the craziest tales ever. One such tale speaks about a beautiful unicorn that is just... not right. Unicorns are known for their calm nature and desire to heal, and the ones inhabiting these parts of the woods seem to be no exception to this rule. However, these stories about uncanny unicorns sound more like fairytales than believable experiences. Even so, word returns to the Keep more and more often, everyone speaking about musty-scented unicorns with visible bones and mushrooms growing on their bodies. Magi are used to seeing such creatures by now, the anacita bunny, deadwood deer, and lichenthrope all having been recorded and observed. The forgotten unicorn is also a creature the magi know about, with its bones showing and its body decaying. Tales of these unicorns seem different, though, and refer to an entirely new creature.
