Before you see a dualcap rana hatchling, you will hear its croak. The hatchlings are tiny and let their presence known whenever anyone approaches so they won't be mistaken for mushrooms and accidentally picked as future food. In any other circumstance, the dualcap rana hatchlings are very quiet. They prefer the sounds of nature, more content with listening to the various noises the other creatures make instead of joining them with cheerful croaks. They are very active and will explore their dwelling place from one end to another daily, checking if any new plants bloomed or if anything withered. If people are nearby, the dualcap rana hatchlings will change the size of different plants, wishing to amuse those who are around.
The dualcap ranas are as powerful as they are cute. They are favored by those who have an affinity for the life element but also by those passionate about adventuring. Magic-wise, the dualcap ranas' magic influences the growth of nature, helping plants grow twice as fast as they normally would. Their simple presence makes it possible for plants to grow rapidly, for flower buds to bloom in seconds, for saplings to become small trees in a matter of hours, but also for everything to wither and die sooner than it should. At the same time, the dualcap ranas are conscious about the environment and would never do something that could harm nature. Thus, they sometimes refuse to use their magic as they do not like disturbing the natural balance. The dualcap ranas aren't as strict, though. Adventurers are usually the ones who use these spores, as those who ingest them will shrink or increase in size. This is an exceptionally useful feat for those who wish to squeeze through tight spaces, pass by undetected, reach tall branches, or pass over medium-sized rivers. The spores can only affect living creatures, and fortunately, they don’t damage the body when ingested. Experiments were done to see if ingesting more of the spores could determine the amount of size one gains or loses, but no matter how much effort was put into it, the spores' effects have their limits. Their effect can’t be stacked, so one person cannot be shrunk or enlarged more than once. The dualcap rana’s spores come in two different shades of brown. The lighter shade will always shrink, while the darker will always enlarge, so it's easy to tell which spores to use based on one's specific needs.
