There is actually an egg hidden somewhere under this soft fluffy tail.

Fox chinchillas were once thought to be one of the few species of mountain rodents that are diurnal, but closer study has revealed that they are in fact nocturnal. However, they actually appear to eat in their sleep, which for years had fooled observers. Able to consume virtually any substance, they settle down for the day by beginning to gnaw away at whatever is in front of them, slowly eating a chinchilla-sized hole in the mountain or enlarging a previous nest. Their teeth never stop growing, and while these teeth are not sharp, they are incredibly durable. Periodically fox chinchillas deliberately consume stone to wear their teeth down, and travelers can always spot chinchilla habitats by the pockmarked rock surfaces, which look oddly like sea urchin beds somehow transported high up in the mountains.
