Even as adults daydreamers are small and slender, and they never grow out of their tendency to daydream all day and sleep all night. Their favourite place to be is draped over the shoulders of their magi, where they can spend their time daydreaming and enjoying their magi's body heat and closeness. Daydreamers tend to be loners and don't spend a lot of time in a group or even with their mate, and for good reason: groups of adult daydreamers can influence anyone or anything else nearby to stop and daydream as well. Researchers often wonder how daydreamers manage to find mates and breed in the first place, let alone raise hatchlings, and there are a number of programs in place to keep their numbers from dwindling.

Unlike their close cousins the dreamcatchers, daydreamers don't affect dreams either good or bad, but they do bring with them a sense of peace and serenity. While helpful for magi who are often anxious, daydreamers are no longer allowed in classrooms as they tend to send the students to sleep even faster than normal. Daydreamers have no natural enemies, partly due to their friendly nature and partly because they can make any creature that wants to hunt them too complacent to find the energy.
