Alagos are rife in mythology, thought to be wise and prophetic. This belief are not completely unfounded; corias have been known to visit a magi in their dreams and bring them knowledge of the future. Such visits are rare, though, and not always to be trusted. Corias are great liars, and consider tormenting others great entertainment. These birds are one of the few creatures who hunt for fun. They feed on carrion and small animals, leaving foods such as insects and berries to their less powerful cousins. They make their homes in the northern parts of Silva Forest and prey upon the small woodland animals found there. Coria alagos do not migrate, although winter is harsh in the forest. They are feral creatures, and it is not surprising that many tales told to frighten children include them. Corias are as intelligent as they are cruel and love pestering new students by stealing their things.

Coria alagos are dark and beautiful creatures. They prefer night to day - their colorings, as well as their personalities, are suited to the later hours. Dark magi prefer this breed of bird, as they have a natural connection with the blacker arts. They are powerful companions despite this reputation, for magic seems more potent when performed around them. For this reason, these birds are present when students are being taught a particularly difficult lesson, though it is not likely they wish to be. Corias would prefer to see people suffer, and they are intelligent enough to prove real threats. Many a young magi has fallen victim to their traps, often set by dark magi. They are incredibly powerful, but one must be wary of them, even if you are a caretaker of one.
