Adult zaya kenhounds can grow as high as the waist of a man. They are generally gentle and tolerant creatures who form strong bonds both within their own species and with humans familiar to them. The colors on their coat deepen and the size of their tail tuft grows as years pass by. Grown zaya kenhounds require a lot of activities to keep them happy. Hiding things for them to find and providing fields where they can run as much as they desire are good ways to keep a zaya kenhound occupied. After exercising its mind and body the zaya kenhound is content on spreading out on its bed and going to sleep with paws twitching as the dog continues to dream of running.
The kenhounds are popular companions both among magi and non-magi and are especially coveted by higher class citizens. The kenhounds have been around for as long as people can remember and have been used to aid in hunting parties as well as to guard livestock but nowadays are mostly companions socializing with the family or used as guides. Kenhounds come in many varieties with each native to distinct areas. The species living in the coldest areas can be distinguished by its long and woolly black and brown coat whereas kenhounds in milder and warmer climates sport shorter hair and are either grey or black and tan in color. The kenhounds are highly regarded as both spiritual and physical guides as the canines seem to have an uncanny ability to see behind obstacles, spot the locations of lost things and bring their owner items the person was just thinking about finding.
