Adult angshonae are small enough to be picked up by most people, though the male's train can grow to be twice or three times as long as their body. Their iridescent blue feathers are more like delicate cloth than true feathers, which means that they glide rather than achieve true flight, and the male's tassels are elegantly knotted into symbols. Angshonae love music and will often sing along, although their voices aren't as pleasant as a songbird's, and they enjoy strutting around the area where they live, showing off their long tails. Any community with an angshonae in residence will see increased luck and prosperity in all areas of their lives, and many small villages allow them to roam around free for this reason.
Angshonae are odd little creatures who seem to be partially alive and partially made of scrap materials. As the story goes, the first angshonae appeared in the workshop of a couple who created both beautiful pottery and elaborate decorative knots, giving them away to anyone who asked. Intrigued by the mysterious egg, the couple hatched it and raised the resulting raggedy hatchling to a gorgeous male bird with a long train and distinctive tasseled feathers. When the angshonae left them shortly afterwards, they feared that they had failed somehow in raising it, but it soon returned with a mate, bringing luck and prosperity to the couple and everyone within their small town. All angshonae are thought to be descended from these first two birds, and while they're picky about the magi they choose to partner with, they are still considered a beautiful symbol of luck and good wishes.
