Since I probably couldn't fit this into Herbal Grace (because i'm pretty sure magi won't celebrate it xD), but I wanted to write it, I decided to make it a mini-story. Enjoy. :3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
April yawned and looked outside; what seemed like billions of lights were shooting up into the sky, exploding at a certain point to reveal a burst of colors. She blinked; was this why she was called to the Keep? April figured that it was something important, and was partially disappointed that it wasn't. She had come all the way from the Callisto Islands to watch lights blow up in the sky?
But at the same time, April was entranced by the beautiful display. Fire and light magi stood in clusters far down on the ground, working together to create the lights. April wasn't quite sure what to call them; firebombs? Explosions? Lightbombs? Whatever they were, she loved them. And the sound they made, the crackling as what appeared to be glitter fell from streams of light after the explosion.
Arkai danced around the lights, but were careful to stay away as they exploded. It wasn't an rare sight to see an arkai, but they usually only appeared toward the beginning of a new year or the end of an old. Either way, the creatures seemed to be having a good time and that was all that mattered.
April stretched her arms before getting out of bed, throwing on some regular clothes and heading outside. As she walked down to the courtyard, the water magi passed a sign that you couldn't miss if you were riding on a cehual boar. She examined it, smiling when she noticed the words: "free creatures"
April was a greedy girl; if it was free, she would take it. Of course, she'd feel a little bad later, but otherwise didn't really care. She rushed to the place where the arrow had pointed, only to be greeted by a horde of other magi. She'd have to wait forever!
A sigh escaped the magi's lips as she stood in line; rather impatiently. After awhile, she was finally called up to be next. With a smile, the man running the station told April to close her eyes and hold out her hands. She did so, eager to receive a creature. A heavy lump soon made itself comfortable in April's hands. April opened her eyes and squealed, excited to see an albino direwolf pup looking up at her with friendly pink eyes.
She thanked the man, stepping to the side and lifting the bottom of her shirt up to make a cradle for the dog. However, the dog refused to be held and leapt out of April's hands, yipping sharply and wagging his tail. "Aww, you don't wanna be held?" April smiled, rushing out of the room and to the courtyard. "C'mon, let's go!"
The pup barked and chased its new magi, tongue lolling out of its mouth carelessly. They made it to the courtyard in time to watch more light explosions. April smiled, finding a suitable bench and watching the amazing display for quite some time.
It was when the moon was at its highest point that she decided that it was time to go, as much as she wanted to stay. Reluctantly, April slowly walked back to her 'rented' room, watching the show as she went.
Glad you liked it; and I might start doing that, I'm looking for inspiration for HG, but there's so many little things that inspire me to write something little like this...
