Title: Tiger and Bunny
Genre: Action, Drama, Superheroes

Plot(No spoilers please!): This anime centers around the characters of Kotetsu (Tiger) and Barnaby (Bunny), who are two humans with special powers, referred to as NEXT. The two of them work for a television network and solve crimes on reality TV, along with other NEXT who have various abilities.
Why you think it’s worth reccomending: The character dynamics are intriging and the plot gets more and more complex as the show goes on. Kotetsu is an incredibly likeable character, the production values are high, and the world is very well developed.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: There are a few cliché elements to the show, but everything else is amazing. I can’t recommend this show highly enough. It’s also entirely family friendly.
Title: Madoka Magica

Plot(No spoilers please!): It centers around a girl named Madoka and her friends, who learn about what it takes to be a magical girl. They must decide if they want to enter into a contract with the mysterious Kyubey, and become magical girls.
Why you think it’s worth reccomending: This is not your typical magical girl show. The plot is the strongest aspect of this show, and from episode three onward you see how becoming a magical girl shapes their lives. The plot is riveting, the pacing is perfect and the ending is very satisfying.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: While the plot is amazing, the characters are somewhat flat. I would recommend this to anyone who likes original and unique plotting, but if you require complex characterization you may find this show somewhat lacking.
Title: Trigun

Plot(No spoilers please!): The anime follows the adventures of Vash the Stampede, a man with a 60 billion $$ bounty on his head, and the two insurance agents who’s assignment it is to watch him-because for some mysterious reason, calamity follows him wherever he goes.
Why you think it’s worth reccomending: This is the anime that got me into anime-it’s creative, Vash is a lovable goofball, and the villains, when they appear, are truly villainous and have interesting goals. Even more than the amazing plot, the action is fun and the character interactions are even more fun. Another plus here is that the dub is extremely well done-watch it in English if you can!
Anything else to keep in mind about it: This anime is considered a classic by many people-but it’s a classic also due to the fact that it’s from 1998. The art style may be a turn off for some who are used to more recent shows.
Title: Mushishi
Genre: Fantasy, Supernatural

Plot(No spoilers please!): Mushi are strange organisms somewhere between animal and plant, that coexist with humans. While not evil, they can sometimes cause problems for people when they come into contact with them. Ginko, a Mushishi (mushi Master) who can see the normally invisible mushi, travels around feudal Japan and helps people deal with problems caused by mushi.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: This show has incredible atmosphere-that is its strongest draw. The mushi are esoteric, and the world that is set up constantly has new surprises. Ginko is also a fun character. It's an episodic show, but each episode is beautiful.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: It's an episodic show, which means that there's no overarching plot. The only recurring character is Ginko and one other character. Each episode is a great experience, but if you require a novel-like story told over a series, this may not be the show for you.
Title: Fate/Stay Night

Plot: In each war for the Holy Grail (a magical item that grants any wish to the holder), there are seven Masters, who are regular humans that fight for the Grail, and seven Servants, one of each class (Archer, Lancer, Rider, Saber, Beserker, Caster, Assassin). The anime follows the events that occur from the perspective of the main character, Shiro Emiya.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: Fate/Stay Night has wonderful music and art, plus a pretty nice plotline that’s not too cliché.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: If you dislike blood, stay away from it.
Title: Toaru Majetsu no Index (I, II and the spin-off series Toaru Kagaku no Railgun)
Genre: Action, Drama, Ecchi, Fantasy, Magic, Science Fiction, Seinen, Supernatural
Number of episodes: 24 in each season
Plot: Academy City holds the number one spot for education- 80% of the people that live there are students. The bulk of these students are espers, and are ranked by how damaging their superpowers are. The most powerful is a Level 5, and the students without powers are ranked Level 0. One day, a Level 0 esper named Kamijo Touma finds a girl passed out on his balcony. The anime follows Touma and Index on their adventures, etc.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: It has very nice art, some awesome explosions, and great plot twists. While some of the friendship stuff in it is kind of cliché and there are random, awkward scenes that seem just shoved in there for kicks, it’s an anime I hold dear.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: You wouldn’t want an older relative walking in on you watching one of the scenes, if you’re younger- it’s not that they’re really explicit or anything, it’s just that it looks like it’ll become explicit even if it doesn’t. That’s probably why I haven’t been able to watch the second season.
Title: Kuroshitsuji
Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Shounen, Supernatural, etc…?
Number of episodes: 24 in the first season, 12 in the second
Plot: Ciel Phantomhive, the (very) young head of the largest toy company in the world is secretly the Queen of England’s watchdog- when she has cases that need investigation, they go to him and his demon butler, Sebastian. This anime follows Ciel and Sebastian as they get deeper and deeper into the dark side of England. The second season primarily focuses on Ciel’s interactions with that stupid brat Alois, another person who’s contracted to a demon.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: This anime has a bit of fighting, some romance (very little, actually), and good art- it has a little bit of everything for anyone who’s willing to watch it. It has a very good plotline, and the endings never fail to satisfy me. All the characters have great characterization, I think, and paired with the situations they’re in, it just blends together very well.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: There might be bloody scenes, but when you look back on the anime as a whole, the blood never seems to come to mind.
Title: 5 Centimeters Per Second
Genre: Drama, Romance
Number of episodes: Depending on what version you're watching, there's either a 'Movie' or 3 episodes. They have the same content, though, and both run for a little more than an hour combined.
Plot: This 'anime' centers around two childhood friends, Takaki Tono and Akari Shinohara, and the growing physical and mental distance between them. [From Wikipedia- The story is set in Japan beginning from the 1990s and ending in modern day, with each segment centered on a boy named Takaki Tōno. It is important to note that the first episode takes place during a time period when cell phones are uncommon and email has not yet reached the general populace.]
Why you think it’s worth recommending: The background art is gorgeous. It's very realistic, and plays along with the story very well- the more details you notice, the more you'll find ways to connect it to the story. Considering that the whole thing only has about 72 minutes of screenplay, it gets its point across very effectively- the first 'episode' was enough to get me to feel completely numb (too many feelings = short circuit). There's not really much to say about it, but it's quite good and it'll make you think for a bit.

This is the story of Technora's Debris Collecting section, its EVA worker, Hachirota "Hachimaki" Hoshino, and the newcomer to the group, Ai Tanabe.

Why you think it’s worth reccomending:
It is a brilliantly indepth and subtle anime. That looks at the less known aspects of space travel and puts a lot of effort into factual information involved. I'm not normally a romance person but the way the relationship between the two main characters is done is so well written I really enjoyed that aspect of the anime. There is more then meets the eye to this anime and makes a refreshing change of pace to those action heavy animes.
Anything else to keep in mind about it:
It is not to everyone's tastes and can seem slow. But perservere, it is well worth investing your time with.

Plot(No spoilers please!): An 11 year old child prodigy called Miyamoto Rebecca becomes a teacher at a school. A school full of interesting characters and where things can get a little weird.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: It's pure unashamed silliness for when life gets too serious. Rebeccah is a great character and it's worth watching to see what she and her students get up to.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: Not for fans of plot as it does go far into the peculiar.

Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exist within it. Satan the god of demons, but there's one thing that he doesn't have, and that's a substance in the human world that is powerful enough to contain him!! For that purpose he created Rin, his son from a human woman, but will his son agree to his plans? Or will he become something else...? An exorcist?
Why you think it’s worth recommending: its amazingly well done and has a very interesting story line and it give some life lessons as well
Anything else to keep in mind about it: episode one is a bit not much goury but its perfectly fine once you get passed that.

On the otherhand, Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: its really fun and teaches a lot of good things.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: the dubs are bad but just watch the subs.

Why was he cast into Abyss, how does Alice factor into it all, and what does the organization known as "Pandora" want with him...?
Why you think it’s worth recommending: It is very interesting and easy to follow.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: not really it just very good.
Title: Deadman Wonderland

Plot(No spoilers please!): Ganta Igarashi has been convicted of a crime that he hasn't committed, and sent to a new, privately owned and operated prison, where the inmates are the main attraction in a modern day twist to the gladiatorial coliseums of ancient times. Throw in a healthy dose of weird little girl, some new-found super powers, and a little conspiracy theory, and you have Deadman Wonderland.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: I recommended it in Anime club and everyone liked it. Now the club is sticking to one anime instead of one random anime episode a week.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: it is rated +17 but is still amazing.

Title: Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
Genre: Drama, Sci-fi, Triller, (slight) Horror

Plot(No spoilers please!): A sci-fi retelling of Dumas' famous novel, Gankutsuou is set 3000 years in the future, when "sailing" refers to insterstellar travel and wars are fought among planets, not countries. A young aristocrat named Albert makes acquaintances with the mysterious and very rich Count of Monte Cristo and helps him accommodate in Paris, however, he doesn't suspect that the Count has very dark motives regarding Albert's and his friends' families. He acts very trusting towards the Count, whereas his friends are more suspicious and try to find out the truth behind the Count's dazzling appearances.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: The plot is very tightly written and the series is very suspenseful - I sat on the edge of my seat even on my rewatch even though I already knew what would happen. The art is, even if not pleasant for everybody, very dazzling and innovative for the time this series was made in. Soundtrack is excellent. Also, this is one of the minority of series which I actually remember as having superb voice-acting. (btw, The Count is voiced by the same man as Kotomine Kirei in Fate/Zero and Stay Night)
Anything else to keep in mind about it:
*VERY important - a large part in determining whether you'll like this series AT ALL is whether you can digest the artwork (it's VERY pattern-heavy), and this is generally the most polarising aspect that divides watchers. Look at this trailer or the first couple episodes - if you can't stand the art, then don't bother, since you'll hate the whole series for it.
*There are *some* artistic liberties taken with the plot, especially with the explanation of the Count's nature.
*This series is more story- than character-driven.
Title:Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Genre: Drama, disaster series

Plot(No spoilers please!): After a magnitude 8.0 earthquake hits Tokyo, two children, who initially went on a trip on their own, join a woman they've met by chance and who lives in their vicinity to get home on foot through the destroyed city, not knowing whether their relatives have survived the disaster.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: First of all, I found it interesting that this series was produced after extensive research of what a strong earthquake in Tokyo might realistically look like. The background art is amazing. The story is very dramatic and, although at parts I questioned whether it's not emotionally manipulative on purpose, it works.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: If you intend to watch it, I suggest that you don't read ANY spoilers about what happens beyond the general plot outline, as it will most likely change the watching experience. In fact, I accidentally browsed through the episode outline list and, while it still worked for me, I might have appreciated one plotline more if I hadn't had any spoilerific clues for it.
Title: Nodame Cantabile

Plot(No spoilers please!): Shinichi Chiaki is a brilliant, perfectionist student at the Momogaoka College of Music, who aspires to become a conductor and go to Europe. However, due to a childhood trauma, he is unable to board a plane or a boat and fears that his dreams might come to nothing because he's unable to reach Europe, which is the Mecca for classical music.
One day at college, he overhears a girl playing Beethoven in a sloppy, yet captivating manner. Later it turns out that the girl - Megumi Noda, aka Nodame - is his messy next door neighbour, a brilliant pianist who has no ambitions in life beyond those of becoming a kindergarten teacher. Nodame quickly falls in love with Chiaki, and what follows is a story of constantly dealing with each other and finding the way to their dreams in the world of music.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: Wow, it's been a while since I first saw the series, so it's kinda hard to define anymore. First of all, classical music (although this might be a poralising thing) - not only is there lots of it, but you often receive a bit of a background on the pieces that are played. Second, the overall mood of the series is very optimistic and inspiring, although it's not very unrealistic. Third, the characters, while gimmicky, are utterly lovable, get quite a lot of development and the romance is presented in a bit more mature way than it often is in high school stories, since this series deals with college students in their early twenties. All in all, for me this is a well-executed feel-good series that I'm always happy to return to.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: Whether you'll like this series will probably at least partly be determined by how you feel about classical music, since this series is overloaded with it. The animation isn't stellar. Also, there are several gags that are repeated relatively often, but they're not too annoying.
Lastly, you might also want to check out the live-action series. Some characters are better executed in the live-action series, and some - in the anime. c:
Title: Rosario + Vampire (Rozario to Banpaia)
Genre: Supernatural/Ecchi/Romance/School Life
Number of episodes: 26
Plot: Due to poor grades, Tsukune Aono, an average high school student, has been unable to get accepted into any private academy of his choice. By exceptional accident, the only school to accept him turns out to be anything but ordinary; the school is attended by youkai (monsters) disguised as humans. Fearing for his life, he attempts to escape only to meet Moka Akashiya, a beautiful girl who just happens to be a vampire. Despite this, Tsukune decides to stay at the academy, hiding his human nature from students and teachers.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: It's a great ecchi, and it managed to hold my attention the entire time. I loved it, and it recently got imported over to Netflix.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: It has vampires, and mystical creatures, and all that crap. Normally I'd be repulsed by that kind of thing (Twilight), but this show was great, and I really loved it.

Plot(No spoilers please!): 26 years ago, in a third-year classroom of a middle school, there was a student named Misaki. As an honors student who was also good at sports, the charming boy was popular with his classmates. When he suddenly died, his classmates decided to carry on as if he was still alive until graduation. Then, in the spring of 1998, a boy named Sakakibara Kouichi transfers to the class, and he grows suspicious of the fearful atmosphere in that classroom. In particular, there is a beautiful, aloof girl named Mei Misaki who wears an eyepatch and is always alone drawing pictures. Something isn't right here, and there's talk of a "curse". When Kouichi begins to see the curse first-hand, will he be able to handle it, and find out what's really going on? (Most of the plot from myanimelist.net, last 2 sentences by me...)
Why you think it’s worth recommending: Well, I'm just really enjoying it. True, it's mystery, and can be really slow and/or confusing sometimes. All those of you who like being creeped out (sometimes slightly, sometimes not) and who like gore/blood with a bit of mystery will like this. I hope.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: Well, it IS horror. If you have a weak stomach, seriously, don't watch it. They only have occasional violence moments (like only one every episode, or every other episode), but when they do have a "moment" they're pretty bloody. Also, episode 11 was just downright gory and violent, so SERIOUSLY, if you have a weak stomach don't watch.
Title: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (Season 1) and Ghost in the Shell S.A.C 2nd GIG (Season 2)

Plot(No spoilers please!): You follow Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team, Public Security Section 9 (Section 9), a special unite meant to combat cyber terrorism in a world where cyborgs and androids have become are common sight.
Why you think it’s worth recommending: I think is well drawn and the story have a few plot twist, nothing big tho.
Anything else to keep in mind about it: This series doesn't always focus on the main story but sometimes on individual characters that have minor roles or major roles. It gives you a look into those characters lives for one episode so you gain a better understanding of them and it sometime give you a good piece of their background story too. Is also a show where you'll kinda have to figure out what's going on on your own unless you're willing to wait till the last episode where it'll all be clear. Since this is a show about an anti-terrorist unite shooting, blood and some gore are present in this anime and a little swearing but not something you're not use to hear.
