Dragons, Pixels, and Random Nonsense.

Uhm, for me, it's sort of a task of patience. I had to learn to enjoy drawing the background before I could make ones that I liked. Also, and maybe most importantly, draw the background BEFORE the character. That way the character will look like he actually fits in the scene. Backgrounds drawn in afterwards look rather out of place, with the character just randomly placed in them.

Take your time and enjoy every small part of the background. Have fun with them. Also, try to keep distance and environment in mind; things that are far away won't be in focus like things that are close. They also tend to fade into the sky color or a shadow color, muting them.

To keep the character the focus, I tend to try and give the entire background one or two major colors, like the goldish and dark blue of the thing I just posted, or the purple and turquoise of the snowy dragon one. I try to add those colors into everything, even the character, because it ties everything together.

Uh yeah, I'm sleepy so that didn't come out very coherently.

A bit of art for me. I was in an art funk, wasn't really happy with my recent stuff (even though I was proud earlier…) so I just drew something I was excited about.

I am now super happy and completely out of said art funk. Yay!

I love how the clouds on their back are actual clouds. Entei has six legs though? That's a surprise.

Yeahh he got a pretty noticeable mutation. They make an appearance in a story/RP thing my friend and I are doing together. xD

Odd coloration/designs for them are for a reason. The Manectric-thing is not only a hybrid (Manectric/Mightyena cross) but is also a servant of Giratina, giving him a slightly odd appearance. The Eelektross is also a servant of Giratina, giving her the coloration of her patron, plus splitting her neck frill thing into six "wings" like Giratina's Origin Forme.
