Hello new folks! *waves*

Well, I've definitely decided to NOT do #4. I realized that without writing a bunch of pure porn, I probably won't be able to get 50K words out of it. So that will have to be a project for another time. Especially since I don't actually WANT to write porn.

I keep getting votes for #2 and #3. Poor original story. No loves for you. :: pats #1 comfortingly ::
After getting a really good argument for working on #3 in IM, I got a few tantalizing votes for #2, to the point that I pulled up my file from that and discovered a document of notes that I had COMPLETELY forgotten about that kinda go with it. After reading over bits of that, I'm really considering going with #2. It is fresh and new and could have just about anything happen with it, and that could be good for NaNo.
Heh *evil grin* I could, prospectively, even fit Dev in and kill her off quickly! Lol.
As much as I would love to finish #1 or #3... #2 seems to have caught my attention. We'll see if it holds it until November 1st!

Good luck with your stories, Selinea and Hawke.

Just wanted to offer up a few links that you all might find interesting. I'm sure most have already heard of Write or Die, but just in case I highly recommend it. It's a great tool to have for NaNo as it more or less forces you to keep writing until you meet your word goal. Another one I came across last year is Pangurpad. They had a special going on last year, and still might this year, where NaNoers could sign up and write one story for free. It saves it all online (so it's nice for people who often forget to backup their writing) and in the settings you can make your story take up the entire screen, thus keeping you from being distracted.

Those are the main things that have helped me get through NaNo. Does anyone else have any useful tools they use?

Coolies.

I actually do better when I can multi-task. I used to have two screens- one for writing, one for other stuffs, but the second monitor broke last spring.

I've run into a terrible issue though! My external hard drive has died! It has EVERYTHING on it. All my writing, scanned art, some computer art, photo references that I've saved up over many years all my music. The only thing that's truly a disaster if it's lost though is the writing. I am desperately hoping that if I can buy a new one, the data can be salvaged and transferred.

How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo?: Let me see...four technically, two properly (one win which was last year :3) I also tried and failed Camp NaNoWriMo this year in August

This year I'm planning to write a book called 'Ghost Shadow'. Here's the summary:

Sometimes the past should stay buried. Deep.

It's never a good thing to wake up and find a stranger in your room. It's even worse when that stranger is a ghost suffering from a severe case of amnesia. Kat doesn't want to help Ben find his murderer, but when the killer is still out there she doesn't have much of a choice. Finding a murderer should be easy when you have a direct line to the victim, but the more of Ben's past she uncovers, the more she realizes that things are never easy. Worse still,Kat has a secret of her own that she's been hiding. Can you really live a normal life when there's a ghost shadowing your every move? And if Ben is a stranger, why is Kat the only one who can see him?

It's pretty cliched I know but I couldn't get the idea out of my head and now I have a whole cool plot planned out. I also made a semi-terrible cover using mostly Paint (link here)

Me too... I get paid in 2 weeks (last check is already all spent. >< ) and I'm going to take it in to Best Buy and see if they can recover the data for me if I buy a new external. I left it plugged in and attached all day yesterday to see if it would pop on (as it had been popping off for a few days, but would then come back) No luck. So now it's just being unplugged and I'm hoping to not fry it beyond recognition until I can see about getting it recovered.

kabutorocks, that actually sounds interesting, and I don't normally read mysteries or ghost stories. Ghost with amnesia I think is a nifty twist. I'm not certain that's been done before, but like I said, I don't normally read ghost stories.

So how is everyone's planning going? I keep telling myself to sit down and at least write up character bios, but then I find myself wandering off. I'm not an expert at focusing.

One of my fears is losing all my writing. I'm pretty paranoid about it. I can sympathize with writers who do end up losing it all.

y'know... you'd think that after all this time, and having lost things periodically before, that I would know better than to have just one copy of everything saved in one place. :: headdesk ::

And since I can't get to any of my notes... I now have NO idea what I'm going to do for NaNo.

I'm contemplating taking an RP that died years ago, and converting it into story form- and finishing out the climax of the story, because it died before we got there! It would also need converted from a Narnia based RP into something original, and various character names and species would have to be altered. characters who came, posted a few times and then disappeared with out a trace would need to be dealt with, and the horrific writing of Noobs would obviously need completely rehashed. Continuity issues and other inconsistencies would be fixed... there really would be a lot of work that would go into it.
Because the story is mostly written (I would just be re-writing it) I might aim for 100K words, just to keep it challenging.

Good luck with that, Hawke!

7 more hours for me. I've completely bombed on any of my planning goals. Right now I'm just hoping I can think of an opening scene before it hits midnight >_>

Hey everyone!!! I have updated he members list. If your name is not on there, please inform me and I'll add it.

So, for the entire month of October I was busy planning for an idea I really was not into. On Monday night, I was laying in bed (trying to keep warm) and was thinking about my plot, which was nonexistent well my thoughts wondered to a show I've been watching lately and instantly I had this great idea for a fanfic. So, during school on Tuesday I set to work on putting together enough information to be able to write. Yesterday, I was able to write down this amazing plot and basically got all my main ideas put down.

I'm really excited about this new idea. I actually think there's more to it ant it will be a more exciting story.
