I remember the old suggestion of being able to collect items from one's creatures and use them in special quests or even make useful potions and spells with them. I'll try to look for the post when I have the time but I loved the concept and I hope that something like that is introduced.

I also would like to see quests and stuff that require everyone on the site(or a majority of active users ) to take part in- like some evil mage is attacking the keep and we have to all work together to defend it or there is a magic disease sweeping through a town and we all have to contribute items to further the knowledge of how to cure it!

Of course shard breeding potions are my favorite suggestion, but I'm liking a lot of these!

For a new one, how about a repeatable quest (maybe once a week/month) that would let you change the gender of a creature? Limited like that would still make gender trading preferable, but would be a godsend to those of us who do things like buy particular creatures (like donis) on particular days (like birthdays), only to have them gender wrong and spend weeks (or even months!) trying to find a trade, knowing in all likelihood it won't match the original criteria we had...

Not sure how feasible this would be but I have read about how some don't like the fact that they can't find certain eggs in the stream and how some creatures should be "retired" or placed in a store setting. I started thinking about the map and how each creature is from a certain region, so instead of just or in place of the main stream maybe have many different streams where those creatures from each region are in. That way the main stream won't be clogged with "common" eggs all the time. It could also be done on a time base as well like if a certain creature is more active at night then that is when it is most likely to be found and so on and so forth.

Again I am not sure how feasible or if this is even a decent idea but thought I would throw it out there

What if we combined 2 suggestions together? The Item gathering idea and being able to change genders.

As an example, lets say users can collect dragon scales, beetle wings and other useful items. After collecting a determined number of each, a quest is unlocked to make a gender changing potion.

That way it takes some work to get a gender changed, but you have an alternative to the gender trading thread or throwing your computer at the wall when you end up with 7 male Tylluans.

Or those who are trying to make a lineage and need offspring to be a specific gender for, whatever it is they're doing. Those you can't even trade to get and stuff born wrong will still show up on the lineage page(I know I'd like a method of some kind to change pet genders so I can finish my lineage because the chance of the last babies I need coming out the right genders is, small).

On that note perhaps a way to release/'disown' creatures from lineages that way they don't show up on lineage pages.

Like, i have commissions and 'important' messages that are taking space in my message area, so I can't get any pms from others without deleting something. It'd be nice to have a folder option to store them in for keepsake, without taking up pming space.

-I love the idea about scavenger hunts. I know squiby had some for special creatures people made, that weren't available any other time. Where you had to take a riddle or clue and figure out where the egg was located. Sometimes it'd be in a search tab, or somewhere on someone's page, or in the description of another creature. Implementing something like that would challenge users to think outside the box to find new critters, rather than routinely check each shop, stream or breeding.

-The contests i so second/third/whatev. Maybe have a category like 'water-based', 'earth bases', 'dark based'. or even wilder ideas like...something with three eyes, four spikes somewhere and two feet...and see what people come up with.

-a cool side event. Like a super special scavenger hunt. Held like every month, or every two weeks. And the winner has a chance at getting an old doni or retired creature as its prize. I see very few of the older year critters, like 09 and 10, and would love a shot at getting some of the rarer ones. Those that didn't reach the end would get like...500g or something. And those that did reach the end, they could have a raffel for the grand winner, that being the one to get the grand prize. The others that didn't win the raffle would get a lot of gold, or a chance for a more recent critter. *shrug*

didn't suggest much, but I had to put my plus towards other great suggestions. : )

EDIT: Inspiration hit. As a lot of people don't exactly know, there is a chat room here on MS. Why not...once a day or something, there be a mini-event. Where one of the moderators would get on, post a riddle about a creature, whether it be describing it, and you have to name what critter it is, or finding a fact about one of them...or heck, even a fact about Tristan, Damien, or one of the 'important people'. All in good fun, of course! Then you post your answer in the chatroom, and win a few gold, or a random SB critter or something. Mostly it's to actually have activity in the chatroom, or get to know the creatures of Magistream, or get to know the creators and contributors to all of our fun here on Magistream.

Or heck, how about a special chat time during the week, where an artist can pop in, and that person, along with some Magi, brainstorm ideas for a new creature or event! Communication and creativity!

For this, there already is. Go to your inbox, then there should be a thing that says 'Rules, folders, and settings". Its the last tab before your friend's list on the left side. Click on that tab and it'll take you to a place to set up new folders, and set rules for incoming messages to automatically sort into your folders.

Say you make a 'Commissions' folder. Setting your rule, you'll select
If (subject/Sender/Message/Message Status/sent to) then click next.
the select (is like/is not like/is/is not/begins with/ends with) then click next.
Then type in "Commission" or whatever the title of the PM your commissioners are sending to you (make sure you let them know what to title it) then hit next.
Then from the drop down menu select what folder those messages will go into, and your rule is created! You can play around with those settings to set it up to your liking.

And thought of another contest. Creature Suggestion Concepts! Basically, it's a contest where Tristan or someone picks a category (fantasy, real animals, extinct animals, etc), then the contestant picks one of the suggested animals/whatev. to make a concept for. The winner will get their concept posted on an official fanart thread or something, where people can view it, and get a prize for winning. This doesn't mean the winning creature will be made, but it's fun for the magi and could possibly give the artists ideas on new creatures TO add for the future. Win win situation, eh? This contest could be like...every two weeks to a month, giving some slower artists (people like me, procratinator queen) or ones kinda busy with RL, to get their entries in.
