(Sorry.... real life is a killer....or an attempted killer. I had to change a tire Thursday in the wind. A big gust of wind blew the pickup off the jack and knocked me in the head. I've been fighting a headache since then. Bleg...)

Aiden noticed some of Raven's concern as she twitched her ears in thought.
"Don't worry. Likely, we won't see anything dangerous till we come to the creek." he reassured "And even then, I doubt we'll see much."

Kieran nodded in agreement "Indeed. Not good at all. But, believe me when I say, few things "sneak up" when Aiden and I are around. They would rather come in with a boom and a roar than "sneak up" on us." he grinned.

Raven nodded in response and understanding but still felt a bit uneasy. She did feel a little better, though at his reassurance so she wasn't as worried as before but it was still there. She was also debating against if it was a good time to tell Aiden how she really felt about him or not in her head so she had a lot going on in her head right then and not just the patrol.

Tami nodded and then giggled a little bit at what she heard Kieran say in his last statement, definitely seeing that happen in her head and thinking that it was funny. She was also enjoying going on a patrol with him and still liked going on a patrol with Raven but this way, she could spend more time with him.

((hm what do you think of a synchronized confession from both Raven and Tami to Aiden and Kieran in my next post or so? ))

[Aw thanks. I do feel much better. I was just thinking "Aw man...she's been waiting for me FOREVER! She's probably thinking I'm out having a party or something. ]

Aiden twitched his nose as they approached the stream. He nodded to Raven "Lets stop and get a drink." he suggested. He wanted to take a break from the walking for a moment. He didn't want her to get too tired, even though they were walking at a very leisurely pace.
He moved down the bank toward the bubbling sound of the creek, and he slipped through an overhang of Weeping Willow branches that were dragging the ground, just in front of the creek. The strange tree really gave that area of the creek a rather mystic, romantic feel. It was also the most shallow, peaceful area of the creek.

Kieran smiled more as Tami giggled. She was so cute when she did that. He had always liked that about her. She was usually serious and focused, so much so that giggling was kind of a rare thing from her. He liked it that he could make her giggle.
He looked down at the ground then, thinking about how many years he had carried a crush on her. It was going on several now...
"Um....Tami..." he cleared his throat and slowed his pace "Well, as you know, the mating rituals are coming up fast with the full moon. They're only a couple of days away in fact." he took a deep breath "Well, I was....um.... do you.....would you....could I...." he wanted to ask if he could fight for her hand, if he could go through the tribal steps of making her his mate. But now the words were stuck in his throat. He didn't know what to say, how to say it, or what to do.

[I think that's a good idea! Aiden is working up to realizing he's in love...he just needs a little nudge in the right direction. ;) ]

Raven followed Aiden to the creek under a few willow branches where they stopped to take a rest. She looked at her reflection in the water and tried to think of how she wanted to say her confession.
Once she got it figured out she turned from the water to him and said a bit shyly, "Um Aiden there's something that I want to say to you that I've wanted to say for awhile now but was too shy to say before. I love you."
She shifted back to human form and then waited to see what his reaction and response would be to what she just said.

Tami listened to everything that Kieran said and a small blush appeared on her cheeks when she understood what he was asking.
"Yes and there's also something I've been meaning to tell you," she said with the small blush still on her cheeks. "I love you."
She shifted back to human form and then waited to see what he'd say or do as a reaction to what she had just said.

Aiden looked at Raven with an unblinking stare, his ears erect. She....loved him? And she had been wanting to tell him "for a while"... how long was "a while"?
He finally blinked and then shifted back into his human form, still pondering on what she had said....and how he felt about it. The thought startled him, because he thought they were just friends, but as he considered it, he realized that he saw her as so much more than a friend. He had always been fond of her, protective of her, and always felt strong and at peace when he was around her. She made him laugh, but brought out a serious side in him that he rarely showed around anyone. He had always liked the way she smiled, the way her black hair flowed down her back or the way her fur swayed as she walked in her sleek wolf form.
He sat down and looked at the bubbling water of the creek, not certain what to say.
"Wellllp...." he sighed and looked at her "What do you propose we do about that?"

Kieran smiled and shifted into his human form. He took Tami's hand and held it firmly "So, could I compete for you during the rituals?" to be honest, he had dreamed of this moment since the time she had first healed him, and he had dared to hope for some time that she might one day be his mate.

"Well I was kind of hoping that if you felt the same way that I do towards you, you might compete for me in the rituals in a couple of days but if not right now I guess we can just take it slow and wait a little while longer if you want," Raven said in reply softly to Aiden's question although they were the only ones there but she was still a bit shy about saying her confession before sitting down and resting her back against the trunk of the willow that was there.
She hoped that she hadn't been too direct about what she had just said and that it wouldn't make him not want to talk to her for awhile afterward as she looked at the water of the creek in front of them.

"I already said yes to that silly," Tami said in reply to Kieran's question with a smile now on her face before squeezing his hand a little bit.
She had answered it earlier when he had been fumbling a bit for how he had wanted to ask her about fighting for her during the rituals and was a bit surprised that he hadn't heard or was possibly not paying attention.

Aiden blinked and looked at Raven in surprise. She was already that far?! He had only begun to realize that he was in love with her. However, they worked well together, got along, liked hanging together.... there was no question about how well they got along.
He was going to say that he needed to think about it, but he suddenly envisioned another male, a real brute, coming along and fighting for Raven to be his mate. Aiden already knew what he would do if that happened. He would fight for her.
He took a deep breath "This is a lot. I've never taken any of this into consideration before, so this is a lot for me to think about, but..." he let his breath go and nodded his head "I will fight for you. I would fly to the full moon and back for you, Raven, and that is hard in comparison to a fight." he grinned sheepishly at her.

Kieran smiled "I was just making sure." he leaned forward and kissed her, putting his hand on her face and stroking her cheek before entwining his fingers in her hair.

Raven continued to look at her reflection on the creek's surface as she waited for Aiden to say something in reply to what she had said to his question that he had asked earlier. For a minute, she thought that he wouldn't answer at all until she finally heard him say something after letting out a sigh. She turned to look at him when she heard what he said last and smiled back at him but a little shyly. She was glad that he agreed to fight for her during the rituals since that meant that he felt the same way she did about him. She also understood that everything that she had said earlier was a bit hard for him to take in right now since she would probably be in the same position as him if their roles were swapped in this situation.

Tami kissed Kieran back when he leaned forward and rested his hand on her cheek before having it entwine in her hair. She wrapped her arms around his neck when he did that and continued to kiss him happily.

Aiden sighed again and ran his fingers through his hair "Ah..So, now what? A kiss, maybe?" he grinned, totally joking and not really expecting her to take him seriously.

Kieran wrapped his arms around Tami's back, pulling her in close to him, pressing her body next to his. He completely forgot about his duty as warrior and his half finished patrol. All that remained in his mind was him and Tami....together....forever.

((well at the time that I was reading your post on my kindle and also being in what I like to call "ninja mode," I heard Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" song playing from the neighbor's yard to the left of us; they were having some kind of party or get together and were playing their music really loud...I do too; it's quite fun ))

"Maybe but only if you want to though," Raven said in reply with a smile as well as a small laugh to let him know that she knew he was just joking about that.
She was half-joking and half-serious when she said what she did in reply since part of her mind wanted him to kiss her and the other half didn't; at least not right now and later.

After another few minutes of kissing him Tami pulled back a bit reluctantly and said as she looked into Kieran's eyes after taking a breath, "I think we need to save the rest of this for after the fights in a couple of days."
She really did want to continue with their kiss but she also wanted to save the rest of it for after he would be successful in fighting for her hand during the fights.
"Also don't be too distressed when you don't see me watching from the sidelines the whole time during your fights since I might be called away to help heal the injured since that's my priority in the tribe," she added a few minutes after the other statement that she said since she knew that her being called away to heal would be a possibility.
