The Choices We Make. (A MLP:FiM short story.)

This was inspired by the song "Lullaby for a Princess" on YouTube.

The castle was too quiet as she sat in the throne room, her crown resting heavily upon her head. It had just been the other day that there was another sitting beside her. Or at least that was how it felt. Halfway across the long hall, that much of the throne room consisted of, stood the pillar that the Elements of Harmony laid asleep upon.

"Why could I not have forseen this would happen?" She murmured to herself. A thousand questions came swirling through her head at that thought. She failed her sister. She failed her royal duties as princess of Equestria. But ultimately, she failed herself. "Dear sister, could you ever forgive me for not seeing how you needed me so?"

The answer to that laid on the moon. She knew this. It was hard enough to have made that final decision, but she was bogged down with regret already. Her guardsponies had done their work admirably but she felt she put them in danger by her inaction. The time would come when she would need to appoint a new captain of the guard and she dreaded seeing Lancelot go. But such was the norm in a royal affair and her heart grew even more heavy with that thought.

"I love you so very much, my dear sister Luna."
