Amaya's Magistream Journey

This is a recount of my Magistream experience, dramatised for my and your enjoyment.

Returning to The Keep was a stressful experience. She had left so suddenly three years earlier, not even telling the magi she was friends with she was going. Not that she had been intending to leave, if she had she would have tried to make sure her creatures had good homes. She wasn't sure if she wanted to reveal who she had been, she wasn't really that person anymore. But she felt the guilt.

She shook her head in exasperation at these thoughts and stopped by the stream. The glittering eggs floating in the current were a comforting sight. Until she realised she did not recognise the species of any of them. Had she really been gone so long, that so many new species had been found. She scooped two jewelled eggs out of the stream, they seemed similar to a species she remembers but a completely different variety. She then Sighed in relief, seeing some familiar eggs floating down the stream. She picked up a pearl and a minicorn and held them tight as she walked on.

Little had changed at The Keep since she had left, other then all the new creatures, and so she tentatively introduced herself. She was welcomed with open arms, and she happily stepped back into the hustle and bustle of keep life. She quickly made herself known as a healer and teacher, and made known her wish to take many of the creatures her fellow magi found themselves unable to look after.

19th of May
She knew she had arrived during a big celebration of the Keep's Anniversary but she was surprised when she arrived back at her caravan and found a basketful of eggs and two lovely hatchlings. She was amazed to see the green crystalwing eggs, when she had first lived at the keep these had been rare. She smiled, and felt the need to share her happiness, she picked up one of the hatchlings, struggling to remember which was the one she had hatched and which had arrived with the basket. It was really heavy, she looked around, not wanting to carry it far to gift it, she gave it to the first person she saw.

When she arrived back at the caravan once more she spotted a seal, he was sitting next to a note that said "Welcome to the Keep". Amaya smiled broadly, this made her want to start helping others straight away. But how? She had to think deeply about how she would begin helping others at the keep.

Silverin

Silverin was a welcome gift from the Magi Silvereil. He is a very happy seal that sadly does not spend much time with Amaya. However should she ever wish to travel far north he would be there to help.

Titanite

Titanite was the first new companion that Amaya nurtured from egg to adulthood.He was an odd friend for her, seeing as she is a magi who had little gifts in the power of air or stone, but he was already loyal. He is a gentle creature, whether by his own nature or by Amaya's careful upbringing, and enjoys looking after eggs almost as much as he does finding gems. He especially loves looking after the jewelled eggs of crystalwings and other bright eggs. When he lies down in the sun he likes to keep eggs tucked under one wing, gently warming them to help them hatch.

As Amaya walks through the town he is a constant presence flying high overhead and keeping a close eye on her. It is a habit he started as a hatchling, but one he will keep for evermore. He doesn't like to let her out of his sight, almost seeming afraid that her natural shy and quiet behaviour will help her disappear from his life.

Hematite


Hematite was the second of the crystalwings Amaya plucked from the stream. He was a quiet soul, even as a hatchling. He prefers to keep to himself and disappears for days at a time. However should Amaya even begin to wish for his company he will fly directly back at top speed. Other people are rarely worthy of his notice, but if he sees someone injured he will often fetch Amaya, knowing that she strongly desires to help people.

L337Lorelei had been having trouble looking after her many pets. And Amaya had been all to eager to help out. Unsure of her own ability to look after many in her tiny caravan she took only a pair of Hummingbirds and a pair of baku. So focused she had been on the lovely creatures that she didn't fill out the adoption form properly, but Lorelei kindly overlooked the error.


Amaya had not intended to take these two baku at first, but they were kindly offered and she was more then happy to help. These creatures are kind and friendly, often leading the injured or sick to Amaya for help. Like Amaya they have little interest in being thanked and will often disappear soon after rescuing someone. Their names are Marsena and Rasui both meaning dream.


These hummingbirds caught Amaya's eyes immediately, they were so graceful and so shy. She gave them the names Litonya and Huitzilli and they happily found a place to nest amongst the herbs that hung to dry in the roof of her caravan.

Amaya looked at her caravan with a frown, she did not have much space, and what she did have was being overrun by hatchlings. Perhaps she should settle down in the keep again. A minicorn hatchling bounds out of the forest dancing around to dark lapis crystalwing hatchlings who were slowly making their way back to the caravan. A young Puvia leapt from the grass to Show off its ever increasing capacity for flight. A young kitsune leaps for the Puvia and misses by inches. Amaya realises that they must enjoy playing in the wild, maybe it was not yet time to settle down, not at the keep anyway.

20th of May

Abrax

Abrax and his fellow minicorns are vital companions to Amaya. They help her move her caravan as well as assisting her when she needs to heal. Abrax in particular is never far from her side, perhaps because she raised him from an egg. Abrax was playful as a foal, but when his healing powers blossomed he became more serious. He is very gentle, but will protect Amaya from any threat.

Silviu

Amaya received this egg during the gifting event during the Magistream anniversary. So surprised was she to receive gifts at all that she quickly lost track of who had given her what. Until very recently she had been unaware of how rare wuxing cabal were, and so she nurtured this little one with the same love and care she used with all the pets she raised. Upon maturing Silviu began to be quite adept at helping Amaya find the healing herbs she needs for healing. He is also of great help in keeping an eye on the hatchlings who like to play in the forests. Amaya loved him before she knew he was rare, he was just so perfect for her.

If someone knows who might have given me this egg I will be so thankful. I didn't even think to record who gave me what so I can't even remember if this one was given anonymously or not.

Dar

Dar is a large creature. Once mature he moved to the coast rather then travelling full time with Amaya. There he has been known to rescue people who are drowning or who have angered the other ocean creatures. Whenever Amaya parks her caravan near a large river or the beach he will come to join her, enjoying as he does her company.

Amaya dropped by Lorelei's adoption stall again, this time excited to see a number of Male Fire Gryphons. But she was saddened to see how many Baku were still left. She decided to take home a Fire Gryphon and hopefully find some mild tempered Baku to give to a new person she had befriended a long time ago, but had only just arrived at the keep.

Cinaed

Most Fire gryphons are ferocious, and Cinaed is no exception, however Amaya is working hard to gentle him. He will never consent to helping the minicorns move the caravan but she hopes one day he will be of great help in carrying her and her medicine bag to those in need. He does not love Amaya yet, but has seen her kindness and it has moved him somewhat.

Amaya spotted a for sale sign and took a quick look at the creatures up for sale. There were a few that caught her eye, but the Ibex were old favourites of hers and she was happy to take.

Rim and Choovio

Rim and Choovio are vital parts of Amaya's life. When she is taking a rest from travelling they stay near the caravan to protect it while eating the grass surrounding it. When travelling they will often work together to rescue injured people from harder to reach locations and bring them to Amaya for help.

Machlah

Machlah likes to follow Amaya by swimming through the shallow streams and ponds near her route. Mahclah spends most of the rest of his time sleeping, and rarely interacts either positively or negatively with other magi or creatures.

21st of May

Akoko

Amaya didn't see much of Akoko each day, but what time they did spend together she used to teach the little imp basic herbalism. Whether Akoko is actually paying enough attention to recall these things later is another matter. Amaya believes that these nimble little forest imps are capable of learning simple ways to deal with each other's injuries and this is why she tries.

Vesper

Amaya wonders at the wisdom of raising this little one when she was trying to settle down. After a long day's work she returns home to see him fluttering out of the caravan. He seems to like showing her the stars of distant places. He likes tempting her. He knows she loves to travel as much as he does, but he'll have to wait.

Ostadar

Amaya is scared of heights, and so never rides Ostadar. He was disappointed about this at first, but has come to accept it as part of their relationship. He rides her caravan instead, loving to sit on its roof whenever it starts moving.

Hori

This tiny little dragon can often be found resting beneath Amaya's cape. This often startles people when he decides to take off. Due to Amaya's nomadic lifestyle, even when staying near the keep, his hoard is kept in the rafters of her caravan, and the space is shared with many other creatures. Used to the large number of creatures in a small place this does not bother Hori at all and it is only if you try to take a piece of his hoard that he'll get angry. As such he'll often get into little fights with crystalwings.

Naida

Naida was something Amaya had been looking for for a long time, she could heal a person's bodies but not their spirits. However Naida was melancholy on her own in the large tank so Amaya had to release her into the streams. Amaya visits regularly and once Naida has found a pair hopes they will be able to live happily together in their tank.

Heliotrope & Sphalerite

Heliotrope & Sphalerite were raised together from a young age. They share everything, and never leave each others side. This unusual bond has been noted by many magi as they are seen to take off from the caravan each evening to spend their nights at the Caves of Nareau. They will always return by late morning to spend some time flying with the other flight able creatures of Amaya's caravan.

Visiting Master Belmos was always a joy, this time she found the Gryphons caught her attention. She knew she should wait a bit before looking for creatures to buy as she currently had no idea what she wanted. But the temptation was too high. In the process she accidentally took another male fire gryphon home from his store. She wondered what she should do with this one, Cinead was already quite a handful, she decided she would find someone to gift it to.



The female Ice Gryphon she had bought was named Takhi and loved to compete with Cinead. Amaya was happy for them in this, as it kept them both out of trouble.

Wauna

When Wauna returned from her migration and hatched her first set of eggs she returned to Amaya. Seeing the brilliant ability of these birds Amaya immediately asked her for help. Wuana was vital in lightening loads so constructing their little house was made easy.

A Home
Though she preferred a nomadic lifestyle it was becoming quite obvious for Amaya that she needed a permanent dwelling, at least for some of her new creatures. Collecting up the moulted gems from her new crystalwings she was easily able to get the funds to buy a small plot of land tucked between a stream, a small woods and the beach to the southeast of the Keep.

All the creatures Amaya had received up until this point helped her build a small home, a barn and stables in this beautiful locale. Crystalwings and Gryphons helps her cut down trees and shape them, while Abrax, Rim and Choovio helped her place them. Akoko was always there to help her with nailing together the planks while the two hummingbirds Litonya and Huitzilli brought them the nails. Dar and Machlah happily brought them driftwood to use in the construction too. Wauna was vital in all this, with her power to make the heavy beams as light as a feather. Finally Silviu grew them the most marvellous garden to surround the whole place.

With this new house complete some animals settle in. Titanite looks after the eggs here now, while Silviu tends the garden and watches over the hatchlings that play in the forest. Dar tends to enjoy playing with hatchlings in the ocean and keeps them out of Machlah's way. The Baku and the Gryphons stay in the stables, but do not often involve themselves with the hatchlings. Meanwhile Wuana and Naida keep an eye on the stream. All the rest still spend most of their time with Amaya and her caravan, but they may also venture home on their own for some rest, or to raise their own children.

21st of May Cont.

The garden she found herself in was beautiful beyond comparison with anything she had ever seen before. But it was the creatures that really caught Amaya's attention. When informed this was a shop she looked around with enthusiasm but was spoilt for choice. Shyly she pointed to a beautiful black pegasus and a flaming phoenix. KittyLune was happy to sell them to her.

Our Darkest Times

Our Darkest Times was an odd name for this beautiful creature but Amaya didn't mind, she was simply honoured that this pegasus was happy to come home with her. Darkest lives in Amaya's stables most of the time, helping teach hatchlings how to fly.

Paytah

Paytah is a wise old bird, and loves to just spend his time relaxing on the roof of Amaya's home. He rarely stirs himself for visitors or even Amaya, but he will help defend the creatures there at a moments notice.

Sinopa

Amaya received Sinopa quite young from a Magi called firebone for a small price. As a youngster she loved to play in the woods with the other hatchlings. However now she is grown she is more sedate having made her den under the house and spending most of her time lounging in the front garden. When the mood takes her she might travel with Amaya for a time or even go off on her own solitary adventure, sometimes returning with a rare egg.

Diopside

Diopside was a gift from Malaika101. Like most of Amaya's Crystalwings he spends his nights at the caves of Nareau while visiting either her or her home during the day. He enjoys playing with the gryphons when he visits and will race them until the sun sets.

The gift from Oreloki had come as a pleasant surprise for Amaya, and she was delighted with the wonderful gifts.

Akihiko & Kochou

Much like Hori these two butterfly dragons love to hide in the folds of Amaya's cloak or flutter around her as she walks. They are very observant and often like to direct her attention to things she might find interesting. Kochou likes pointing out creatures she thinks are beautiful while Akihiko points out items such as ribbons and gems.

Chalchiuitl

Chalchiuitl is a loving creature, but was very reserved when first coming into Amaya's care. Perhaps she was unsure what the care she was to be given would be like. Amaya immediately gained her trust by letting her go wherever she wanted. Like Amaya, Chalchiuitl is an explorer at heart, and spends most of her days exploring the lands around her new home. At night she returns to the house to curl up next to Paytah for warmth.

Diana

Not as poised as many of her brothers and sisters, Diana is not above playing with the hatchlings. Diana enjoys exploring and playing games like hide and seek. She has chosen to live in the caravan with Amaya mostly, even though it lacks a good fireplace to lie by. It is perhaps because she enjoys the way that she gets a different view everyday.

22nd of May

Passing by Lorelei's stall once more Amaya was amazed at the variety. She could not help ogling at them all, many of them new to her. She loved so many she could hardly decide on whether to get pairs or not. She was feeding one of the pegasi a potato when a man came over.

"Which do you want?" He asked bluntly.

"Umm," Amaya felt rushed, "A Koi, That lovely young gryphon, a white pegasus and the Nareaun Quetzalcoatl please."

"You sure you don't want any of these stupid Baku." He said sharply.

Amaya frowned, "They aren't stupid, but not today.

Porphyry

Amaya often takes Porphyry with her in a large tank in the caravan to help her with her healing. But most of his time is spent in the stream beside her house where he offers his magic to any creature who wishes it.

Haizum

Haizum loves living with the gryphons at Amaya's home. Though she has a male name she isn't to concerned, loving the nickname Hai. She is like sisters with Darkest and rarely leaves her side.

Coaxoch

Coaxoch loves living at Amaya's House but often shies away from the company of others. She prefers to watch the others from a distance without involving herself. Perhaps once she has lived longer with them she will become more involved, or maybe this is simply her nature.

Salali

Salali was sold to her by a magi known as firebone while still a hatchling, perhaps due to the great difficulty in raising them. Now she is grown she looks after herself mostly. She lives in the house, rather then the caravan, but likes to spend her days with Amaya. Often she will get a lift to Amaya from one of the crystalwings to Amaya's current location during the day, then a lift home at around lunch to explore the woods and collect food.

Jabin

Jabin was an gifted to her as an egg, and Amaya had to be very careful when raising them. It would have been impossible without her new home. They found themselves a cave some distance away and made a very solitary lifestyle. Jabin dislikes company, but will usually only scare visitors off. Amaya visits them regularly to ensure they are alright and to keep her stock of their antidot fresh.

23rd of May
KittyLune's store always drew Amaya, and the creatures there were so kind and well trained. Amaya loved the creatures and could not help picking up a few every time she stopped by.

Crystalwings

All of the Crystalwings that are friends with Amaya tend to live in a similar region of the Caves. They can be seen early each morning flying over the keep towards her home, or wherever she had been the previous afternone. They fly together, regardless of their colour.

Caramel Gryphons

These two gryphons are very relaxed. They are so well trained by Kittylune that they are rarely very ferocious. They like to nap by the stream and watch the hatchlings play. However they have little interest in looking after the hatchlings themselves.

Gazini

Amaya worked very hard to train this Cestoda properly but she still dislikes the sacrifices that must be made having one. However she is trying to work on ways to remove their larvae from a hosts body without killing either being in the process. Like most good healers she does have a frozen Cestoda larvae in her medical kit, but dreads the idea of sacrificing it of someone else.

Manju

Manju was given to Amaya by Fin and she had a great struggle to raise it. This far south the environment was too hot for it. It was only when she discovered an underground tributary of the stream beside her house that she was able to set up a home any good for it. Now it uses its own powers to create a frozen cavern where it and some other cold loving creatures may live happily.

24th of May

Emerald and Tsavorite

Emerald and Tsavorite were two of the eggs in the egg basket she was given. As these two grew she became much sadder she had not recorded the names of who had given her what. However by searching for their parents she found that they were most likely given to her by the magi fogoe.

Kornerupine

Patrickjake was nice enough to sell Amaya this beautiful girl while still a hatchling as a future companion for Opalite. They get along well, but as with all of Amaya's Crystalwings they all intermingle equally. Kornerupine is a very gentle crystalwing, whose only wish is to raise young crystalwings of her own.

Lionesse

Lionesse was one of the many creatures Amaya took off of Lorelei's hands. For a gryphon she is extremely gentle and loves helping teaching young hatchlings to fly, or taking those who can't for rides. She wishes to become a mother.

Nishant

Amaya travels so much that even the Talvars spend a lot of time near her. Nishant has made his nest on her caravan and spends most of his time fluttering around her head or rest on her shoulder. If she enters a city he will dart off to look at everything faster then she can and then call her over to things she might like.

Migoonaasit

Migoonaasit dislikes staying in the stream near the hatchlings, so he spends most of the time upstream on his own. However he does like to visit the house whenever there are new visitors to meet them and beg for watermelon.

Hydras are tough to raise, but Amaya decided to take on 3 unruly adults from a Magi known as DarkRider. These three live in a special reserve away from her home. Machlah has been sent with them and the hatchlings have a little more freedom in the streams and ocean near Amaya's home. These Hydra's are hard to handle, but Machlah and Thoth are slowly mellowing the other two females, Tempest and Titaia.

25th of May

Amaya tried to gently rock the three squalling xand cubs as she tried to search the town. Nishant was looking too, but he was only a little sunrise talvar and he didn't actually know what bamboo looked like. She tried to coax the hungry cubs with a potato and smiled when they perked up, but it wasn't towards the potato that their noses went. She followed their noses until she found herself at Lorelei's stall. There she saw the young man carrying large stacks of wood while under the watchful eye of Lorelei herself.

"I see where all the bamboo has gone, you look like you're trying to feed an army of Xand Bears." Amaya said with a smile.

"Maybe I am," Lorelei responded mysteriously.

"Well it seems you're the only one with bamboo in the entire city," Amaya said as Nishant fluttered back down to her shoulder, "Maybe these three would be better off with you for now."

Amaya handed over the three cubs with little ceremony. Lorelei had to rearrange them a little as Amaya grabbed a thin piece of bamboo off of a pile. The cubs quickly calmed down and started gnawing at the bamboo. Amaya smiled.

"Serves me right for getting some xand bears before I had ensured I had food for them." Amaya said, "If I could get some bamboo shoots from you that would be a blessing for when I do get my own xand bears."

Lorelei smiled and handed her a small pot.

"Here you go- plant this baby and within a few weeks, you might have a thicket of bamboo... or a patch of moon lillys... but I'm pretty sure this is a bamboo pot! With fancy earth magic spells and all that." The fire magi grinned, kneeling down to rub the head of one of the cubs.

"Thank you, by the way. They'll be a calming influence, hopefully, when the other ones get here-I mean, um... oh look! A potato! Wow! How... er... interesting..." She pointed at the potato Amaya was holding and laughed nervously.

Amaya frown at the response, putting the potato down carefully. She took the pot and checked it carefully with her own magic, though she focused on healing she had more then a basic understanding of the magic used to grow plants. She was pleased to discover that the pot not only contained bamboo shoots but also contained a strong enchantment that would have them grown in less then a day. Probably designed for ill-prepared magi just like herself.

"Thank you for this, Silviu will love this addition to our garden." Amaya said.

She looked around at the animals Lorelei had today. A pair of Hippogryph hatchlings were playing a game not to far from her. They tried to pounce on another creature as it passed, but the little brown Arval was much to fast for them.

"I think I would like to take those three off your hands while I'm here," Amaya smiled slyly, "It sounds like you might need the room for some black and white guests."


Amara

Upon arriving at the house he instantly decided he was in love with Salali. However Amara doesn't like to leave the house and its surrounding area as much as Salali does, and while she'll go riding off on the back of a crystalwing to see Amaya he'll stay there, tidying their little den and collecting food for them both.

Jinhai

Porphyry was too big for the tank in the caravan so he was quite happy to give up his place to Jinhai. Jinhai had similar powers which helped Amaya in her healing greatly. Meanwhile he was much smaller (small even for a goldfish) and could travel with her easily.

Heliodoros

Heliodoros is the first son of Darkest and Cinead. He is extremely calm for a hippogryph and spends most of his time simply sunbathing in the front garden of Amaya's house. While there even small creatures may approach him without fear, but if they meet him away from her house they will not be so safe.

Sheraga

A gift from Utena this deer helps Amaya greatly through the winter months. It is then that he helps her find and heal people who suffer from exposure during the more dangerous snow storms. When he migrates north he continues this good work on his own.

Ratan

Now inhabited by multiple koi the stream beside Amaya's house could not be more full of life and happiness. While Ratan does not play with hatchlings, he is often the first on scene if one is upset. He is quick to calm them and incredibly skilled at it.

Ikaterina & Nikolai

The two dragons were an odd sight in the keep, but Amaya had come to expect such beautiful oddities in KittyLune's shop. She had been merely exploring the large garden and singing to herself when these two old dragons had come over to listen. Amaya had a beautiful voice, almost alto with an incredible calming quality. She sung soft songs, lullabies and sad songs, and these captivated the dragons. They in turn sung for her, and though she could not remember it exactly it stuck with her, sometimes she will hum their haunting tune to herself.

Keara & Duane

Amaya had been unsure about taking these two on originally, they were a protected species, not supposed to leave the Keep. Yet Amaya visited the keep rarely preferring to learn her craft from other travelling magi. She thought about this in great detail when purchasing them from KittyLune but finally decided to simply ask them. They were keen to see her home, and wanted to go with her, she thought about her gryphons and hippogryphs. She realised that the creatures at her home were a tightly knit family and the others would certainly protect these two if someone tried to take them. Together with Silviu they work on the garden there making it beautiful, in a wild sort of way.
