Hopefully you guys have luck with doubling things.
After doing research on morgues and drowned dead bodies I no longer feel like writing... (because I HAD to look at a lot of disturbing pictures. Why?!)

Oh no!
I'm a little too morbidly interested in that now. I just wrote about a thousand words of people stripping a corpse down for processing, though, so I'm not a good example of normal reactions... I love my story so much, but have accepted that virtually no one else would ever consider it publishable because they would see cannibalism and consider it horror rather than the speculative fiction/fantasy it is. Because of the real themes, it's actually probably the closest thing to literature that I will ever write, but it just happens to be rather gory.

I'd honestly read your novel. Devour it, actually. Cannibalism is a rather interesting subject in my opinion.
While different pictures are disturbing for me, words will never affect me in such a way.
(in case you ever want to share your ongoing writing, I would gladly read it)

I think I did a little more research than I actually needed. I mostly needed to know how a morgue looks like and what could one find in there, apart from dead bodies, of course. (I couldn't write about my peeps breaking in a morgue without doing some research first :derp: )

Glad to hear it isn't just me! I did a research paper on cannibalism as a legitimate death ritual back in my days at undergrad, and have been fascinated ever since. This story is a "what if" story regarding a specific type of ritual cannibalism where the people who do the eating think that they are literally recycling life.

I'm interested to see what yours is about that you need info on morgues for people to break into. Just from that, I can say I would probably enjoy it.

No worries about you having a problem. It's say it's an interesting thing to think of things most people find disgusting/inappropriate.

I am currently writing my little share of cannibalism. As much as you can get from a wendigo, that is. My writing is about a bunch of supernatural beings that are going through a bit of a 'crisis' as one of them is being possessed by a dark spirit; my two twin main peeps having to hack the others' dreams in order to figure out who the possessed one is. (you know, the usual supernatural-mystery-drama, because I don't have much of an imagination)

In this story I've started, my chapters are ending up a lot longer than usual. I usually aim for about 2k words per chapter, but in this one they're ranging 3-4k. Interesting.

That'd make it so you'd have some 25 chapters at the end, that's quite a lot. But then again... I don't read all tht much, so that could literally be nothing compared to some published books (Not talking about Lord of the Rings here xD My god.)

All this cannibalism talk~ Oh yes, I'd love to read all of those books
I've.... Ehh... Exposed myself to way more gorey things than I should. Rob Dyke is just such a good person to listen to. And Vet Ranch videos. The place where I learned that guts aren't Just 'sausages'
But, ummmmm, I'll save you guys that image~ (Until chapter 13+ or something where I'll probably do the classical 'animal ran over by a car' thing)
This Signature looks so bad on mobile. Good lord it is HUGE. I'll need to work on that at some point. For now though I sleep

Real, I think that sounds cool! I've never read anything with a wendigo (or possession, actually), so I think it sounds plenty imaginative. Also dream hacking sounds super neat.

I tend to have very long "chapters" because I am just ridiculously wordy. It's actually something I need to work on--I love lots of description and extra details (complex high fantasy ftw), but I know that really limits the audience and would make getting published, if I ever try to, pretty hard.

Reima, if you think LoTR is long, you'd take one look at the various series on my bookshelf and run for the hills. The official wordcount of my favorite series is 4 million, 287 thousand, 877 words. Not including a prequel.
