Firstly: I am not going to discriminate between any hair lengths, Like your short hair? Great! Trying to grow it out? Great! Have knee length hair? Great! I am just looking for a like-minded group of individuals who care about their hair, want to share tips on how to increase thickness, reduce frizz, product reviews, hair styles recommendations, etc. Any gender/sex is welcome. Extensions are welcome.

I am just interested in a guild on MS where we can talk about these things, and the struggle - or not - of living with out hair.

Some resources:
The Long Hair Community - this can help you find your hair type (straight as a pin to ultra curly), thickness, and strand coarseness. It also discusses varying lengths, and has plenty of threads dedicated to different hair types, and growing out to a specific length. In addition, it also has plenty of links to hair styles, reviews, and the like.
Visual guide to hair lengths - this seems to be the most accurate, and comprehensive list I have been able to find.

Any other information you would like to include: It frustrates me how all the 'long' hairstyles I look up are for people with BSL hair or around there. They just don't work with someone with hair as long as mine. It's all just a pain in the ass, but I really want to see how long I can get it to grow.

Any other information you would like to include: My last true haircut was in 1970 - a month before I started high school. It was butchered so badly I decided to never cut it again and I haven't. Obviously I am old - and have lost a lot of my hair as I have aged....thank god I don't have bald spots just less hair. My braid used to be about 5" around - now it is about 1.5"

Obviously I am old - and have lost a lot of my hair as I have aged....thank god I don't have bald spots just less hair. My braid used to be about 5" around - now it is about 1.5"

I'd love to have hair that long! I did two or three cuts (4 to 6 inches), and several trims over the past 7 years so it probably would be classic if I had left it alone; but it needed it. The air here is so damned dry in winter, and I wanted it to look more even before my wedding.

I also wish mine would silver! It's naturally black-brown so dyeing it is a pain in the ass. I really want it to silver, and then start dyeing it all sorts of colours. But I'm 30, and I barely have any silver so I suspect it's going to take a bit

Hair type: Around a 3a if it doesn't weight itself down to much

Overall thickness/volume: medium when long, thick when short
Do you use any special methods to wash your hair?: Not really. Shampoo scalp, condition the rest, brush straight while wet. If I want to let it be curly, leave loose or pile into a messy bun to dry; if I want it to behave, braid it while wet.

Any other information you would like to include: I shed an insane amount--seriously, it's everywhere. I mostly keep my hair long because it's easier to deal with that way, and I just cut it myself these days--I trim maybe 1 inch per month, which is about how fast it grows. Last time I put layers back in, but they even out pretty quickly. As I get older, I'm hoping my hair will go the beautiful bright white my grandma had--hers started changing pretty early, too.

Strand thickness: Inconveniently fine
Overall thickness/volume: Average to thick, again depending on the weather
Do you use any special methods to wash your hair?: Heavy shampoo on the scalp, regular over the length; heavy conditioner on the ends, regular starting from about shoulder length (I use a hard plastic comb with two rows of wide-set, alternately spaced teeth to make sure I get ALL the tangle out); I brush before I shower, but not always after 'cause I'm lazy; I try to wash no more than every other day (or my hair gets dry and tangly), but ehhh

Any other information you would like to include: @Wolfsister I also shed all the time and everywhere. It's honestly amazing I still have hair on my head, considering the amount I leave in my wake. I braid my hair to keep it out of my way because at this point a ponytail is pointless, but I recently discovered my new favorite "hairstyle," which is a half-bun secured with an octopus clip. The tail still hangs to my lower back, but it's much more manageable. I've only let it get this long because I don't like the way the salon cuts it, but I'll have to give in sometime soon because rn it's just stupidly inconvenient and I go through a frankly astounding amount of shampoo/conditioner.
