Re: [LTB] Dragon Art
Hi ~
I would like to try drawing your dragon.
Here is my DA https://www.deviantart.com/iridiumwolframium/gallery/
The folders are organised by materials/media. For traditional I'm usually working with pencils, ink and ball point pens. For digital I usually prefer going lineless, but I can do lined as well. I've made some attempts at pixel art recently, I don't have many experience and examples to show for it yet, but that's also a possibility.
And from "whatever else I like to do category", I can make parercraft models. In other words I can make paper model that can be printed, assembled and put on a real physical shelf in a real physical world to collect real physical dust
I'm also learning how to make 3D models, and I'm not that experienced in that field either, but that might worth a shot. 3D models can be animated if built with that in mind ~

Alright, now that Christmas, New Year's, and all the visits are finally over, I've had some time to sit down and check out your gallery, haha.IrmaWerewolf wrote:Hi ~

I have to say, I really enjoy your work. I'd be very curious to see what you'll do with my boy - is there a specific material/medium you'd prefer working with? Or do you want to have a go in several of them? I'd love to see any, obviously, but if you'd like me to pick - the real physical dust in my room could use a home (and I bet that dragon would look nice on a shelf... :3)
Have you given any thought to what you would like for your work?

And because Winter Holidays work differently in my country, I'm actually now visiting relatives and stuck without acces to my pc with only good ol' pen and paper untill January 7th or 8thTyriagris wrote: Alright, now that Christmas, New Year's, and all the visits are finally over, I've had some time to sit down and check out your gallery, haha.

I've listed all the possibilities so you would have some choice as I like working in any way I've mentioned as well as trying new stuff from time to time (pixelart being the most recent addition). I wouldn't mind doing several art pieces in different styles/material/media or even several in one, as long as you are not tired of me I have plenty of free time and drawing dragons is a pretty good way to spend it
As I've mentioned, I can not start working on your dust collector right now, but I can make some planning and preparations. Like drawing some sketches for a model, to make sure that I've got details right. The main question though is "How big you want it to be?"
Size pretty much defines how much details I can put on a thing before it becomes literally impossible to make or how much detail I should put on a thing to pevent it from looking like angular nightmare.
As for payment, you have quite a few creatures that caught my eye, but I won't turn down pure gold either. No idea what to charge for papercraft model though, never made one for a commission before. I guess, one way to make it work is to wait untill I'm done and try to figure it out based on a final result and how much you like it

Re: [LTB] Dragon Art
I am SUPER DUPER interested in doing a full body for you. A painted fullbody, potentially, if you're willing to pay. His design is lovely, and I love working with warm colours. Considering I have 15+ years of dragon and digital art experience, and owe nothing else, I'd be able to put much of my free time and skill towards this.
I also am more than happy to communicate stages of work via Discord, and/or send you up to three sketches for review and refine before painting/details.
I'm VERY interested in many of your Donis.

Re: [LTB] Dragon Art
Haha, no worries. As you can see, I'm not in a rush. My own life is hectic at the moment, and while I love this character and art of him, it comes second. So I really don't mind waiting for things.IrmaWerewolf wrote:And because Winter Holidays work differently in my country, I'm actually now visiting relatives and stuck without acces to my pc with only good ol' pen and paper untill January 7th or 8th

What's a size you would recommend for details? Or a size you usually work with? I have lots of space on my shelves, so the more details, the better, obviously, but I figure it still needs to be a manageable size for you.
For payment, if you're okay with waiting that's definitely fine by me, but I do want it to be a fair price. So let's keep in touch while you're working and we'll see how much effort it is? Maybe we can find a base price to work with along the way and go from there?
I suppose paying for a full body mostly depends on your price for it. I'd definitely love one, the more the merrier!Ardroth wrote:I am SUPER DUPER interested in doing a full body for you. Ok, I'm back and ready to go. This is what I've sketched based on the description and what I'm planning to use as main reference. If there is anything that I've got wrong, I'm going to fix it and start making the model itself afterwards ~ https://sta.sh/0147n1utz65cTyriagris wrote:Haha, no worries. As for size, I'm working with all kinds of them with my largest model so far being 40x46x32cm and smallest being a bunch of little charms that are 3x3x0.5cm each. For dragon like this I would probably go for about 20-30cm tall (maybe a bit more or less depending on pose, especially wings). Would that work for you?
I will definetely try to keep in touch, and will ask for confirmation for every major step before continuing further.
Thinking about price a bit more... Below is the list of your creatures, that I'm interested in. How about setting base price at "any creature of your choice (not mine) from that list"?

Awww, look at my boy! Yeah, that reference seems very accurate to me, I love it! The only thing I imagined differently are the feathers on his elbow, they didn't quite reach that far up in my mind. I'd say closer to something like this:IrmaWerewolf wrote:Ok, I'm back and ready to go. This is what I've sketched based on the description and what I'm planning to use as main reference. As far as the base goes, I really wouldn't go below 15 shards (going by the original shard cost of them). These paper models seem like quite some effort to make, haha. Though there are a few special creatures on your list with individual prices.
----- The atrox dragons seem to have quite a high value, for example, I think the last one I've seen in the MD went for around 1 mil? So I'd value it at around 20-something shards. Maybe 18, for art.
----- The simurghs I'd value at 1 shard each.
----- I'd say 6 shards for the eldritch dragons .
----- The heligres seem to be a bit more rare and sought after than normal donis, so I'd add 3 shards to their values, based on some prices I've seen.
----- The Wyrms and Kollinus, I'd put at 5 shards each.
With all that in mind, I'd let you pick your base however you want. Does that seem fair? Alternatively, we could find a shard price per cm in height? Currently, if we assume a 30 cm model, that'd be 1 shard/2 cm, for example.

Though to be honest, I'm not completely opposed to your version, so whichever you're more comfortable with works for me c: For the size 30 cm sounds like a nice height for it, but if I'm honest, I also wouldn't mind bigger. I just checked, the space between my shelves is 54 cm, so anything smaller than that works, haha.Spoiler

Doing feathers on elbows your way would be actually easier for me to make, so sure, I'll change that
I don't feel that charging more for bigger model is fair, because changing scale for me is literally changing one parameter in the program I use and spending about 10-30 minutes rearranging parts on the pages to make them fit new size. Also, making it bigger is actually easier to both design and build. Problems raise from the facts that: 1) paper isn't very sturdy material, if you make it too big it can fall apart under it's own weight, but this can be solved relatively easily by using thicker paper; 2) Wing are weakpoint for dragon models, especially bigger ones, because they are relatively heavy and attached to the rest of the model by pretty small area, so they are at high risk of deforming in some way or even breaking off unless they have some additional support, like putting some wire inside them; 3) I don't have much space myself, so I'll still have to testbuild it in a smaller scale, so I won't be able to catch any potential problems related to a bigger size. If this doesn't scare you, I can make it bigger.
Also, I keep forgetting to ask, what pose for your dragon model would you like? Any ideas?
Finally, a little bits of progress: quick coloring to see if I understand color palette right (you didnt mention what color spikes should be (or I missed that somehow), so I assumed that they follow black-red-gold scheme like everything else) ~ https://sta.sh/01rhuneskfbv
And that's how the model itself looks so far. This is just a base for me to work on, so nothing fancy yet ~ https://sta.sh/0phrce2zz7t
For payment, I guess, I'm going to take an opportunity to complete my breeding pairs and ask for female Damascus Tinsel Wyrm, male Diamond Wyrm and male Kollinus. Would that work for you?
