The Stream is familiar to the residents of the Keep near Lake Lakira, and right before it debouches in the gulf between the mainland and Callisto Island. But where does it come from? It has long been suspected that the waters of the Stream gather from all around the known world carrying remnants of the sights and creatures it passes. Waters from above and below the ground, from forests, mountains, hills and even deserts trickle down towards the sea.
Now some of these locations have been found, and magi who wish to concentrate on creatures from certain areas are more likely to find those should they travel to the origin of the Stream's water. Seven tributaries are currently know but who's to say even more won't be found as the ever-curious and renowned explorers of the Keep make further journeys.
The Seven Stream Tributaries
As the number of our Stream based creatures keeps on increasing, and on occasion we have event or competition-related creature floods that may last for quite a while, we're introducing a secondary Stream system, the Tributaries.
The Tributaries can be accessed from the World Map and the tributary locations are indicated with yellow diamonds instead of the teal diamonds. The Tributaries are also indicated in the Mobile World location list by a "(tributary)"-note after the location name.
When you go to a tributary, you will find a stationary version of the Stream with 9 eggs specific to that region and tributary. Click on an egg to grab it, just like in the Main Stream. Do note, that the egg will not be replaced automatically by a new egg like in the Main Stream, but instead you will need to refresh the page to see the new egg.
The eggs in a Tributary change once in an hour, so if you don't see something you want and don't feel like grabbing the eggs to see if something more to your liking appears, come back once the hour rolls over.
The Tributaries never flood. So even if the Main Stream is overrun by Platypi or new creatures or for some other reason, the Tributaries remain unaffected.
All past and future stream creatures will continue to be available in the Main Stream which is accessible by clicking on the Magistream header banner. In addition to being in the Main Stream, some stream creatures will also appear in one of the tributaries. From our current 228 creatures that can be gotten from the Stream, 174 also appear in one of the Tributaries.
Creatures gotten from a tributary will be identical to creatures gotten from the Main Stream, and there will be no indication on the creature's page or other information whether it was gotten from the Main Stream or a Tributary.
The rarity of creatures appearing in a tributary is the same as their rarity of appearance in the Main Stream and can be seen on the creature's Bestiary page.
Currently there are seven tributaries on the following locations:
Jungle of Raza: Home to creatures hailing from the Raza region and depths of jungles. There are currently 20 creatures that can be obtained here.
Etain Desert: Creatures that do well in drier and hotter climates can be be found here. There are currently 25 creatures that can be obtained here.
Callisto Islands: Critters that live within the depths of the oceans and shallows near the coast fill this tributary. There are currently 26 creatures that can be obtained here.
Tetzcotal: Creatures often spotted near Tetzcotal, Ixan Jungle and surrounding areas. There are currently 21 creatures that can be obtained here.
Taggelisk: Creatures living on plains and urban surroundings are likely to appear here. There are currently 20 creatures that can be obtained here.
Mountain Pass Junction: Standing between the Silva Forest and the plains east to the mountais, the Mountain Pass Junction is likely to attract a variety of both forest-dwelling and plains-walking creatures. There are currently 44 creatures that can be obtained here.
Everlight Crevasse: Creatures that enjoy colder climate, snow, ice, and freezing waters can be encountered here. There are currently 18 creatures that can be obtained here.
