Yay welcome Merkwerkee and GamingGal.Let's start with something simple what do you think about the possibility about Scar not being the father of Kovu,for me they look pretty identic

It's not a possibility. In that movie, it is clearly stated by Nuka, "Kovu, Kovu, Kovu. Scar wasn't even his father. He just took him in."
Clearly stated in the beginning of this video.





Kovu is only a dark lion because the character designers wanted a dark looking character, like Scar. However, because Scar is not his father, Kovu is not incredibly dark and black. Plus, Kovu is more of blah "bad turned good" character, so he had to be a bit light to appeal to young kids.

On TLKFFA (The Lion King Fan Art Archive), I thought it was stated that Kovu was supposed to be Scar's son in early drafts ("with a lust for being bad" = "just like dear old dad").

Well, I can SEE how he could be Scar's son, but given the time slot, it's hard to believe. Simba killed Scar at the end of the first movie then had Kiara what we can assume is years later (since the WHOLE savannah is perfect again). Scar couldn't be Kovu's father because Scar was dead before Kiara was born. Assuming my train of thought is correct :tard:

Some have come up with the theory that Kovu was born before the Outsiders were cast out. But, then why is he the same size as Kiara? But, it might not have taken years for the lands to renew. They had rains at the end, and that would have helped. So, maybe she was born a few months after him. And then there is the really fun question about the cub at the end of TLK not looking anything like Kiara in SP.

I love the plot holes as it leads to some really great fanart.

It's a theory that the cub at the end might be Simba's son,Kopa that appears only in a set of books titled The Lion King: Six New Adventures.One popular ideea is that Zira killed Kopa and that is one of the reason they were exiled.So Kiara was supposed to have a brother,but dunno why they changed the story.

i have a pet theory, which i devised pretty much on the spot

what if scar's father wasnt dead? and sired another cub?
lions are fully grown by two years, i think. theoretically, its possible
