I've been trying to slim down a little. *Prods tummy fat*
It's because I haven't actually done any sport in years. I would go swimming but salt and chlorine make my eczema play up. I should work on my eczema and nails after my stomach.
Anyone know how to lose tummy fat quickly? xD I'm going to Phuket in two weeks so I'll be swimming a lot, and I'm kind of self conscious. > <

Re: Weight Management Guild
I get to hike a good quarter mile from my car to the class room each day, including a long flight of stairs. And, since I got home for lunch each day, I make that hike and climb round trip twice a day!
I know for a fact that being forced to limit my portion sizes has shrunk my tummy. They also say that it takes about 20 minutes for your tummy to tell your brain it's full, so by eating slowly, it helps a lot.
Fondu is good for that- I always used low fat chicken broth to cook meats and veggies in, and you spend time waiting for your bite to cook, and chatting with whoever you're eating with. It's a lot of fun and fairly healthy too! I haven't gotten to do that for years though- I don't own my own fondu set!
As for ditching tummy fat specifically... all I know is that your body will decide where to pull fat from first, and it's not always where YOU want it to. Doing things like sit- ups or crunches will help tone the tummy, but doesn't actually do anything for getting rid of fat from specifically that area. My body always pulls fat from my lower arms and legs first. (I have cute calves when I get down to 255ish. Hee hee)

I think my stomach may be shrinking....not my belly. LOL I have to make sure I use the right words here. hahahha. It is a struggle some days for me to keep with it when some days I just want to say the hell with it and eat everything in sight! If I can remember I will have to weigh myself this weekend sometime and see what I weigh. Well I am off to work now...Yippy frikkin skippy! Enjoy your day everyone.

And another couple of funnies from "Crazy Things Parents Say"
Me: Can I have some chips?
Aunt: Yeah, but only the broken ones, because the calories fall out of those ones.
(While eating cookies)
Dad: I only eat the vanilla ones. They are white, so that means they are light in calories.
Kuz I thought it would be good for us all.

Re: Weight Management Guild
Well... I have good news to share.
The last time I went to a doctor (albeit, a few years ago...) I was at 270. I know I was close to that again before moving on August 21st.
Yesterday, at the doctor (I found a free clinic I can go to until my insurance kicks in on December 1st!) I weighed 255!
I also found that while I used to be able to eat an entire half a rotisserie chicken, plus sides and seconds all in one sitting... I'm full with just a thigh and a couple of small sides (pasta and veggies yesterday) or a thigh and drumstick alone.
So... I'll admit that it hasn't always been comfortable, but it can be done. Just a month of forced smaller portions and I'm now full on those smaller portions! I've also found that with fewer choices here, I'm much less likely to graze when bored. And with nothing else to DO in the house... I'm much more likely to go out and take the dog and raven to a park or something when I'm bored.
Doctor also says if I can lose another 15 pounds, my blood pressure will be back in good shape. It's almost there as it is- with out pills!
Tomorrow though... I'm making a feast for my next door neighbor and me. She bought a corned beef brisket and veggies... and it's going to be YUMMY, and we're both going to stuff ourselves silly. Lol.

Re: Weight Management Guild
Last time I checked my weight I was 14stone or 196pounds. I'm sure I've gained about ten pounds since. So I would guess I now weight 210 pounds.
I'm a lazy slob. Not enough exercise and lots of bad foods. But with my epiphany I'm going to change that.
My biggest problem is fizzy drinks, pastries and Crisps. I don't really snack, so I'm guessing it is just the food I choose. I have a main meal then something smaller in the evening, but that usually ends up where the bad stuff goes in.
I'm going to try and alter that with lots of fruits such as grapes, apples, bananas, Melons and some tangerine/oranges (Which I don't really like). My problem is I'm not a big fan of lots of fruit. I can't stand fresh orange juice. Or anything Pineapple related. I tried a coconut once but found it bland on it's own and too big a hassel to get into. Also I'm going to swap in some healthy cereal.
As for the fizzy drinks, that is going to be the hardest change for me. Part of the issue is cost. Fizzy is just so cheap and I grew up on it. I do like smoothies but they cost twice as much for half the amount. And being poor I'm limited to choice. Going to try my hardest though. Drink more water to counter the need. I may have to supliment with Ribena which isn't that good either, but certainly better then caffeine laden soft stuff.
So plans:
- No more Soft drinks
- Drink more water
- Eat more fruit and veg
- Eat more cereal (ideally as breakfast)
- No snacky foods
- Rice over chips
- Fresh meat over processed
- More fish
- Exercise more
- Clean my place up (combines as exercise)
- Smaller meals (or add lots of veg to make it look bigger)
- Steam vegetables over chips
- Don't deny myself ever of not so good food, just extreme limitations
- Reasonable bed times

Re: Weight Management Guild
That sounds like you've got an awesome plan going Atuin!
Try the smaller plate thing too- to help with portion sizes.
Can you make your own fruit smoothies? Toss a bunch of frozen fruit into a blender with some ice cubes and a bit of juice and let 'er rip! It's really good with vanilla yogurt- kind of makes for a berry milkshake kind of flavor and consistency. (*cough* also extremely good with vanilla ice cream, but that kind of defeats the purpose. lol)

Re: Weight Management Guild
I fail even more at this to the point I think I'm just going to give up. I have no motivation to do anything because I'm freaking depressed all the time.. I really would like to just lay in bed 24/7 and never move.
