Re: take a word
Suffocating
Taking a breath is hard
The hands about my neck, cutting off air
My stomach starts to ache
I need air
My vision starts to fuzz out
I draw my last breath
Sorry
Nothing

The hands about my neck, cutting off air
My stomach starts to ache
I need air
My vision starts to fuzz out
I draw my last breath
Sorry
Nothing
Re: take a word
Breath
A pound of cold brisk air fill my lungs
Hitting me like a mist
I exhale it out just to feel that same brisk feeling again

I exhale it out just to feel that same brisk feeling again

Mist
My vision is obscured
I can't see a thing
Swirling clouds higher than my head
Trying to find my way inside, out of the cold

Trying to find my way inside, out of the cold

Clouds
High and fluffy
not a care in the world
a giant of the skies
looking down upon the world

Re: take a word
World
Glowing green like emeralds
And blue like sapphires
Earth, spinning slowly under my watchful eye
A perfect little ball of jewels
All the living things on her surface
Not a care in the heavens, the animals and the plants
Deep down under her skin, an inferno rages
Under my eyes, she travels around me
Right beside her siblings, as she should be
A ruby fire under her skin
New and precious things on her emeralds every day
Up to my eyes the sapphire seas dance
Spinning and suspended forever in my grasp
Glowing green like emeralds
And blue like sapphires
Earth, spinning slowly under my watchful eye
A perfect little ball of jewels
All the living things on her surface
Not a care in the heavens, the animals and the plants
Deep down under her skin, an inferno rages
Under my eyes, she travels around me

Re: take a word
Forever
Funny how we act like Time is tangible,
Tomorrow a place as much as it is
The spiraling squiggly things
That leap like impalas and dazzle my eyes
To me, it is
The silence as we sit
Between the leaves of an
Olive copse, repeating words we
Haven’t spoken, sleeping the sleep
Of dinosaurs stifled and gleaming
Against the earth,
And then it is
The pause inside a Roman cathedral,
Stain glass evenings smoky with rose incense
As preachers take the final breath before
The sermon.
And then it becomes
The light that guides our hands
and eyes,
infrangible and
eternal.

Eyes
She stared with them
Saw many things
Looked around
Past the birds and the bees
We all think we get a chance
But her they told her it wasn't going to happen
When you look through the happy times
Darkness is ahead
She stared into her new life's world
Inviting as day, though sinister as night
She fell back and closed them tight (no rhyme intended)
She wept with them
They were with her all the way
She opened them
And turned around
One last look into one last sight of happiness
And she braved on
And took them with her
Into the seething darkness
And smiled
And closed them once again
And let fate consume her
Dark as what she saw
But have faith in the light
For it comes after what you have seen
She stared with them
Saw many things
Looked around
Past the birds and the bees
We all think we get a chance
But her they told her it wasn't going to happen
When you look through the happy times

Fate
They told her to ignore the choices
They said to let fate choose
What they never thought about was how it was in her shoes
If the path of fate was so clear,
Why couldn't she see anything near?
Falling to the ground in a heap
She looked up at the sky and leaped.
Why was fate so infinite,
So ignoring what they said
she changed the fate ahead.
They told her to ignore the choices
They said to let fate choose
What they never thought about was how it was in her shoes
If the path of fate was so clear,
Why couldn't she see anything near?
Falling to the ground in a heap

Why was fate so infinite,
So ignoring what they said
she changed the fate ahead.

Re: take a word
Path
Steady, stepping, solid
ground, giving way to footprints
unwavering. You
tend to read into words
a little too much, you
suggest that the path is not just a path,
but a life-changing, rediscovered
new world order,
and the one who walks
is changing, changing, changed
by each step. And yet,
the poetry of the prose of the moment
is the moment,
often overlooked in favor of
"deeper meaning,"
"self-discovery,"
"the writer's intention,"
all just the invention of classrooms
and pencils scribbling atop sky-blue lines.
Stepping, solid, steady
movements, traveling forward
in time and direction:
my path is just a path,
my forward is your backward
as we meet in the middle,
exchanging the noncommittal smiles
of disconnected neighbors,
changing, changing, unchanged.

Re: take a word
Changing
It's the end of time
The final flight
We all think that we will all be changing tommorow
It's impossible to know what might happen
They say we'll never be the same
After the sun sets
The moon will grow up
It's always changing
Look at the world around you
Does it tell you what's going to happen?
Probably not
We are all waiting for something to change
Will it be the same
Probably not
Life is a dice
Roll it
There is a random chance
You won't be changing
But do they speak the truth
After they've changed too?
It's the end of time
The final flight
We all think that we will all be changing tommorow
It's impossible to know what might happen
They say we'll never be the same
After the sun sets
The moon will grow up
