I based my creature on a real life one, but made it mythical- sort of. I thought it would be nice to have a rodent in Magistream, so sorry if this idea stinks This one is a Laotian rock rat.
General description- On light feet, you continue exploring the woods. You feel the small cave give way to your left foot, and you lift it, surprised. Realizing it was a creature’s den, you slowly bend down. A gray, fleeting shape swiftly darts out, and you catch a glimpse of a creature that has the body of a rat, but a squirrel’s tail. It hides behind another rock, and you slowly move away from the den, keeping a curious eye on the peculiar creature. It pokes its head out, and you are able to tell that it has a keen sense of smell when the wind shifts and your scent blows to it. Realizing that the rat like creature won’t move until you leave, you stand up and glance again at the den. You gasp in amazement as the den is slowly reconstructed before your eyes, the pieces shifting back into place. Hearing a squeak behind you, you see the rodent’s eyes peering over the rock at you.
Egg description-This egg has a squirrel tail protruding from the shell.
Hatchling description-A rodent like creature has hatched from the egg. It’s full of energy, and constantly scratching away at boulders, making small dimples. No matter how much you fill in the holes, they keep seeming to reappear in the same exact spot as before. The creature has a bushy tail like a squirrel’s, yet the body and head are that of a rat’s. It’s obvious that your new companion has an acute sense of smell, because the furry bundle always seems to find its way to your food.
Adult description-Your rodent now reaches your knee in height and is a powerful cave digger. You’re amazed at how quickly it is able to construct a den with its sharp, curved claws. Whenever you bring the creature with you on adventures, it is able to carve out a suitable cave for you and itself at night time. Your Rock Rat spends its extra time and energy at The Keep; either navigating its way to a delicious morsel, or honing its cave building skills.
Egg appearance- Basic egg shape, the egg is dark gray with a light gray squirrel tail poking out of
the top right hand corner.
Hatchling appearance- Noticeable black , curved claws, the body and head of a rat. Here’s a picture so you can get an idea of what it looks like- http://conservationreport.files.wordpre ... ck-rat.jpg
The body is a dark, silvery gray, and the tail is a squirrel’s tail, so a lighter gray. The belly is white. Possibly the stance could be like this? http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/0 ... 68x506.jpg
Adult appearance- Bigger and furrier and the claws are now very distinguished and obviously curved. It reaches up to your knee in height. Whiskers around the nose. Stance possibly close to this-
