The star grew bright and pawsteps heard, roaming the sky."May I ask you, what are you doing here?"The cold and stern voice barked.A small gray kit with black paws and green eyes came out of the bush.The Starclan cat glared wearily at the tom."You are to return to your place, now."the voice boomed."Echosong, You shouldn't be too hard on the youngster."Another voice spoke.The tom looked to see who it was, but there was only starry trees."Maybe you should come out of the trees ... or bushes?"The small kit whimpered.

The Starclan cats came out of the bush.One was a golden tabby with dark green eyes and the other was a silver she-cat with white muzzle and Yellow eyes."My name is Grayfish and this is Echosong."She spoke."You,young one, are in Starclan.What is your name?"She mewed.The kit shakes but stood still as he watched them speak."M-My name is Sootkit,"he mewed softly.Echosong looked at Grayfish and whispered,"How do you expect to tell a kit about a prophecy !?Especially one that is more important than-"Grayfish hissed into his ear,"He will become the future Medicine cat of Riverclan!Have you not been told?"

She turned to speak at Sootkit"Can you do me a favor, Sootkit?"She mewed softly.Sootkit nodded slowly at the she-cat."I must tell you something very important that will effect everything near the lake,"The sky will turn dark,Clouds will cover the missing, but the stars will forever shine." Grayfish hovered over the little kit."Deliver this message to Yellowgrass and say that Starclan told you about it."She mewed."May Starclan light your path."And everything went black.

Sootkit's POV

I awoke too see the ordinary things as usual.Queens, kits, elders, and the medicine cat, Yellowgrass who was certainly old and staring to get grumpy. Maybe he was even older the the leader of Riverclan, Aspenstar, who has ruled Riverclan for over a many seasons and moons before I was born.I peeked over the side of the nursery to see if there was a ceremony going on.I looked over my shoulder so I can know if there is anyone going to fallow me on my little journey.Out of now where I hear a whisper."Go to Yellowgrass,tell him the message..."A shiver ran down my back and looked one last time before going into Yellowgrass's den.

just when I heard and another voice."Where do you think your'e going?".Busted.I turned to look at Barknose, one of the elders."You shouldn't be going to Yellowplant's den.You'd mess up his herb pile, and we wouldn't want that would we?"He scolded.Barknose has really bad hearing even for a elder.The reason was not for old age but for his bad hearing.I always think he is a bark of tree due to his bad hearing."Back when I was a kit, I was never a troublemaker like your sister, Kinkkit.""He mumbled.

I can't lie to Barknose, that would make me a terrible warrior and I might get punished or I get held from my apprentice ceremony...I started hearing the grumble of something then the pawsteps of thing.That thing turned out to be Yellowgrass and he did looked a little annoyed.He yawned lazily and licked his paw.He looked as if he got in the river and went swimming for a long time.

After taking a long time of waiting sitting, he yawned and turned to Barknose."Do you have any flees again?I'm sure Sootkit can and handle doing that task."He mewed drowsily.I shifted uncomfortably were I sat near to the enterance of the medicine cats den.Taking the flees off were disgusting and very hard if you are young like me."I saw this little shrimp trying to get into your den,Yellowplant."He smirked."Well, you can go now, Barkface."he scoffed.Barknose's smile turned to a frown.He left the den and went to gossip with the other elders outside.Yellowgrass stared at Barknose until he was gone from his site.Yellowgrass muttered"That should teach him to respect my name.What do you want Sootkit?"I sighed."The sky will turn dark,Clouds will cover the missing, but the stars will forever shine."

The night was terrible,awful,horrible or whatever described bad.

I sat there with the other cats that were at the vigil.Ospreywing, Rainstorm, Nightkit, Mudkit, Grasskit ,Barknose, and Troutfin.Barknose was Osperywing's father and Troutfin was Ospreywing's brother.That day rained all long even in the night.This Newleaf had gone bad in a matter of heartbeats.

"I hope you have a nice travel, Swankit."
"Why couldn't you stay longer?"
"This is sad"
"I will never let this happen again."
"What happened to her?"

And plenty of more things my clan mates said at Swnakit's funeral that would obviously would make Swankit herself shed tears as big as the lake and possibly make a new river.Yep, more fish and prey for Riverclan!How lucky is this clan?I simply don't know my sel-.My thoughts were interrupted the meek voice of Larchsong."Sootkit, youv'e been here for a long time, and its getting cold, I don't want you to have green cough."She warned. My mother wasn't really a good hunter or warrior but she was good at helping Yellowgrass.She had been mentored by Mistyeye who had no comparison to her in any way possible, yet she had been mentored by the rough warrior who was now residing in the clan as a elder.I glanced at Larchsong sleepily." can't go , must stay, here."I yawned sleepily."Protect..her." and everything faded into darkness.

I woke up in the medicine cat's den.The scent of herbs and moss filled my nose yet there was a strange smell to the scent as if it was there but it wasn't actually there."Good to see your awake, Sootkit."Aspenstar greeted.I stood up to see Aspenstar face-to-face."You seem to be well after you blacked out."She continued."I erm- Larchsong had to give you some feverfew yto stop the fever you had, and so did the others.And for some reason your fever lasted longer than the others."She spoke.There was a glimmer in her eye that unsured me of what had happened was not all."Aspenstar, were is Yellowgrass?"I asked.Aspenstar's mood lowered ."He...he has gone to hunt with starclan,he passed away in his sleep, he had been Riverclan's medicine cat for many seasons, he deserves some rest and peace."She proclaimed grimlly.Not him too!Swankit , now Yellowgrass!"Who is going to be the next medicine cat?"I questioned."
"Thats why I came here."
"To tell me I'm going to be the next medicine cat?"
"I simply here to offer you the position, Sootkit."
"Nothing else?"
"Your mother begged me to make her the next medicine cat."
"I know she doesn't like to be a warrior.What about Kinkkit, she obeys the rules."
"She's going to be a warrior and I know you have had a dream."
"The one with Starcla-"
"Yes, the one ith the dream, Sootkit.That dream was a matter of upmost importance to the clan and the lake.This dream of your could decide whether or not the clans will go on.I'll leave you with a option.Do you take the offer?"
"Yes."


Kinkkit's POV (1 moon after the fox attack)


Nothing interesting has happened in Riverclan sense the fox attack and the deaths.You may think I do not have feelings or care for those who have died within these dark days.But I do. I don't show the weakness I have, if I did, the others would have stepped on me for as long as I lived.The memory of Swankit lives in the border of Riverclan, the one near the Shadowclan border.

"All cats that are able to swim gather beneath the Greatrock!"Aspenstart yowled.I saw nearly all of the clan gather near the humongous rock."Yellowgrass, the medicine cat, has passed away.Larchsong has taken his spot until we found another cat to take his role as medicine cat.We have a cat that can take his role, Sootkit, step up please."I glared at my brother.Hoe did he get the task of being medicinecat?He doesn't even know what a poppy seed is!"Sootkit, From this day on until you get your medicinecat name, you will be known as Sootpaw.We honor you as the new medicine cat of Riverclan.She yowled."We have four new apoprentices.Mudkit,Nightkit,Kinkkit, and Grasskit, step forward. "She Boomed.The names of the apprentices echoed throught the clearing, maybe the whole entire forest!

I bounded all the way to the gaintrock were the kits stood with pride."Mudkit,Nightkit,Kinkkit, and Grasskit, from this day on until you earn warrior name, you will be known as Mudpaw,Nightpaw,Kinkpaw, and Grasspaw.Your mentors will be Loudheart,Ravenfeather,Freckleface, and, and speckledfoot."She declared."That is all, Sootpaw will go to the Moonpool to speak with the other Medicinecat's.Meeting dismissed."She Yowled.The clan left the clearing and went back to its regular self."Congratulations,Kinkpaw."Sootpaw squeaked.I turned to congratulate Sootpaw."You too, brother."I exclaimed in a happy voice."Well,I have to go to the Moonpool tomorrow.I might as well get ready.Its going to be a long trip."He meowed happily.He went to the medicine cats den until I could hear the noise of something breaking.
