Genre: fantasy, horror, action (at some parts), potentially romance (at some parts)

Basic background information:

Time period: the contemporary world

Physical setting: the Egyptian underworld.

Anubis is being overwhelmed by the increased presence of souls in the afterlife. The damned population just continues to get larger by the second; Anubis, who has to be present for the weighing of the souls of each individual, can hardly monitor judgment and the state of the damned who have already been given their sentences. At some point, if not contained, the souls of the heartless could retaliate and break death, ultimately bringing about anarchy to the afterlife and the living world.

In order to control the afterlife, Anubis must call upon the forgotten gods and goddesses of death from a variety of cultures (mainly the European ones because of the later European influence on Egypt) for aid. Unfortunately, because the modern world has forgotten these deities and dismissed them as nothing more than fiction, these deities have disappeared, so Anubis must find a way to create help: he will recreate the deities by transforming living human souls into deities. The souls must undergo a trial in the afterlife to 1) determine if they are tough enough to endure the scene of life after death and 2) cut off any human emotion so that they may ascend to the rank of a deity.

The rules of Anubis's game:
1) The souls involved in the deity-creation project will have no complete recollection of who they were.
2) There are more souls than Anubis needs (some are going to die)
3) Each souls is given a physical weapon and control over one "element". They are in the afterlife, after all, and it's not rainbows and butterflies.
4) The souls will not be told how to use their weapons
5) The souls cannot see the actual afterlife, for that would be a sensory overload. The afterlife will gradually be introduced via perceived "hallucinations" (actual glimpses of the real hell)
6) The damned souls will be the enemies of the contestant souls
7) Once a soul loses the "game", he/she will be cast into oblivion
8) Unknowingly, each soul is competing to be the guardian of a certain sin
9) The last surviving soul for a certain type of sin will be proclaimed that sin's guardian

Name: Gabrielle Fawn
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Appearance: Gabrielle is a stunning woman, standing at 5'6'' with a delicate hourglass figure. She's naturally busty, and it compliments her curves well. Her skin is a flawless, creamy tan and clear of any blemishes and scars. Bright, hazel eyes are set against her narrow but softly curved face. Silky smooth brunettte curls rest against the middle of her back, staying untouched most of the time.
Personality: Gabrielle is a open, fun loving person who tends to stay with large groups of people. She has a serious side to her, but it's very rarely seen, as she's usually always out living life to its fullest. She's also the mother figure for most of her friends, having a soft and gentle caring nature.

Rain has irises the color of flames. Her normal garb consists of black paint-stained converses, females' black tennis shorts, and a fitting semi-quarter sleeve baseball shirt with a gray torso and black sleeves/collar under a dark olive parka. Rain typically likes to keep the sleeves of her parka rolled up to her elbows even though her weapon is that of a magician. silly girl.
Personality: Rain tends to be a fairly social figure who has a tenancy to become unsettlingly reticent under pain and stress. She is typically known as the loyal companion of the group who tries to make others laugh with her sarcastic and biting humor.
Weapon: Rain's only weapon is a standard-sized deck (52 cards) of blank black playing cards (all are ornamented on one side with the Roman numeral III) initially encased within a black plastic card case.
