Welcome to Fernclan camp, we own a large forest bordered by
twoleg nests, a large river and a Tunderpath. Our old leader,
Echostar, sadly passed away and left Jaystar in charge, as he
was the eldest of his kits. Jaystar has leead the clan through
famine and floods, war and weather. His faithful deputy was
killed during battle when Thistleclan and Blossomclan teamed
up and raided the camp. He is now on the lookout for another
cat to take Darkshadow's place. It was a few moons ago from
Darkshadow's death and the clan fears that Starclan disagrees
with their leaders delay. Follow the fearful journey of this clan.

Prologue
"There is food here that can support us for years, you idiot." the large black tom rasped, flicking his tail impatiently at his brother. "We can live here in secret, this forest is big enough to support two more cats." The lighter cat raised his head and meowed defensivly,
"What if they do find us? We would be killed before we could shout 'vole'." he flicked his tail impatiently at the cat with the darker pelt. "I don't think this is a good idea." he meowed more quitly, almost to himself. The slightly larger cat twitched his ears back and hissed, "Crow, are you serious? Who was the one who found this forest was plentiful of prey and wanted to move here only a moonhigh ago?" the larger cat's fur bristled, annoyed at Crow's sudden change of plan. Crow lowered his body and sighed,
"I'm sorry Raven, but if this is what you're mind is set on, then I will let you rule this forest by yourself." he meowed quietly, slinking away from his brother. Raven hissed in annoyance and stormed over to a tree stump, "Fine, you piece of foxdung. Just leave me and I'll take over this forest. When you try and come meowing back to me like a kit, you are not accepted here, I will slit your throat myself if you have to." he growled, watching as his brother flinched under his harsh tone.
"Fine!" Crow meowed defensively. "I don't want to run this forest under that clan's backs anyways, I'd rather die fighting for them than my backstabbing kin!" he spat, turning on his heels and storming into the bushes, leaving Raven sitting on the stump, looking at where his brother had just left him alone.

Thank you Raneth.
Chapter 1 - The Story Begins
Jaystar woke up as sunlight poured through the roof of his small, cosy den. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the usually dim-lighted area, now bursting with warm heat from the suns rays. Then standing up, the speckled tom stretched his forepaws, the satisying crack of each limb releasing air flowing over him like a wave of relief towards his weary body.He licked his lips and yawned, his slightly yellow fangs glinting in the sunlight. He shuddered as his paws hit the cold rock underneath him as he slept in a warm, moss nest that heated up pretty quickly. He shook it of and bounded out of his den, stopping sharply as he peered over the rock his den was perched on, overseeing the clearing of his well-ordered clan. He smiled as a breeze ruffled through his cat of speckled fur, giving him a sensation of satisfying, cool relief.
He noticed cats taking food from the depleating freshkill pile and flicked his ears. He saw one of the senior warriors, Scorcheyes. He flicked his tail and jumped down from his perch, casually walking towards the silvertom. He flicked his tail as the warrior noticed him, beckoning him towards Jaystar. The warrior dropped his meal on a pile of leaves and plundered towards the leader, his large paws sinking into the damp earth. He nodded at the leader and sat down a fox-length away from his leader. "I want you to lead the patrol today, both of them." Jaystar meowed, looking in the distance as he stared at the nursery that was behind Scorcheyes' head. Scorcheyes fliched his ear, "But I promised Dustpaw I would take him training today, we were going to the lake. He's been excited for a moon." Jaystar flicked his tail, "Take him with you, it won't hurt him to acompany his mentor on something more important than going dangerously close to enemy clan territory." he grunted, looking at the blue tom, who shrugged. "Fine, I'll take him tomorrow." he meowed, admitting defeat as he padded towards the apprentice's den.

Brambleclaw trudged out of his den, his body held low as he dragged a pile of leaves out of the dim light. Amberpaw fliched her ear curiously and padded over the the medicine cat. "Hello Bramblclaw." she purred, looking at the haul he held in his jaws, "Do you need any help?" she gazed at the older cat, curiousity filled her eyes. Brambleclaw shook her head as Amberpaw's eyes dimmed, "I'm only taking these out into the clearing, they need to try out, we might aswell take advantage of this heat while it lasts." he grunted, dragging the large pile of leaves further into the clearing still.
Amberpaw flicked her tail and bounded up to his side, "Are you sure there isn't anything else you want? Catnip? I know where a path of that is." she meowed enthusiasticly. The tom rolled his eyes and sighed, "Sure, go make yourself useful instead of wasting my time." the young apprentice smiled and bounded towards the enterance of the camp, saying a few words to her friend before bounding out into the forest. Finally, I got rid of that pesky kit. Brmbleclaw muttered in his head, sitting down beside the pile of leaves to take a break.
*
Amberpaw plundered through the forest, causing a large crash through the ferns and brambles. She let out a whimper as her paw hit a log, sending pain up her limb and into her shoulder. She sat down and shook her paw, trying to get the pain to go away. She flicked her tail and continued on at a slower pace, every so often taking cautious glances at where she was placing her paws.
She stopped when she heard an earsplitting cry and spun around, spotting a large piece of bush move. The young she-cats eyes widened as a large white cat pinned her down, hissing as his tail trashed, causing leaves to fly everywhere. Trying to scrape the attacker, Amberpaw succeeded in creating a large gash in the cats side. He howled and leaped of her, his fur raising as he licked his wound briefly.
