The Alasre Mountains rise higher than any others, a wealth of plant life growing at each level along their slopes. Only the hardiest trees survive at great altitude, but smaller plants survive near the very tops of the slopes. The mountains were carved long ago by massive glaciers, the scars of which still show on many of the peaks. Trails of the past seasons' avalanches give way to differences in tree heights along the slopes. In the valleys between peaks, trickles of water can be seen slowly carving away the rock and feeding the lush vegetation down below. Eventually these waterways give rise to our Stream.
