Though many think of the Etanian Desert as a barren land, full of nothing but burning sands, the northern part is, if not exactly livable, then at least not totally dead. Monsoons bring rains which water hardy desert plants, giving them a store of water they live on for as long as they possibly can. Even more striking are the Alasre Mountains in the distance, rising from the flat plain with a suddenness that is as striking as it is surprising.
