The resplendent quetzalcoatl is one of the more common hybrids due to frequent interaction between the ashevor and quetzalcoatl populations. It is a beautiful creature, possessing a sleek, jet-black body covered in fine scales. Several fans of rainbow feathers arrayed along its sides assist in keeping it aloft as it flies with its multicolored wings. Unlike its parents, the resplendent quetzalcoatl is an herbivore, using its vibrant bill to pluck magically potent flowers, fruits and nuts from the trees. Its ability to sense magic in plants is stronger than one might expect of its ashevor heritage, and herbalists often use the bird to gather ingredients, training it to call its master once it has winged its way out of sight in search of fruit.
